Issues with coach Mike Rumph

With how he bad mouthed MIAMI while he was at AH. He imo pushed kids away, and Richt hired him as a thanks for delivering Sony to UGA, while Richt also needing a south Florida recruiting guy.
Why would he push kids to Miami for Golden and Shannon if he really did have the best interest of the kids he would push them all away for those **** coaches.

Show me one single poster who has said he should have pushed his kids to Golden, nobody is arguing that point so why even bring it up.The point is Golden is no longer here and Rumph still can't get his former players to follow him. That is the only subject matter here, not the past, not Golden not anything else you and a few others keep adding to the plot..

in the end i don't blame him. its clear golden and his staff didn't have a clue how to coach. if im a hs coach i am looking after my kids best interest not goldens or miami's . im a canes fan for over 25 yrs and im 43. and id of sent kids to other schools besided miami with golden as coach and coach d on d.

How is he going to send kids to Miami who they weren't recruiting and didn't offer? The only one they went after is Sony and they didn't get him.

thats another good point. they did go after the qb who went to osu also. i think that is what has people upset some. but if he had bashed miami pushed kids elsewhere i wouldn't blame rumph for that. he was just looking out for his kids.

Here's the bottom line with Rumph:

To date, his recruiting has sucked.

His only chance of impressing any fan in 2016 is by developing the talent in the roster.

If he can't do that, he should be fired. We have zero time to spare ******* around with a green DB coach that can't recruit and develop.

I wanted a real, proven coach for our CBs. We got stuck with a high school coach.

Verdict is out on him.

u can't count the 16 class. by time rumph got here was less then a full month with dead period to recruit. why would a kid suddenly come to miami on one month of recruting. it never was happening. thats not on rumph . lets see what happens this year. plus if a kid is gonna play oline or rb. or wr. rumph won't be coaching him. only cbs' would he coach so his impact on recruiting would of been minimal for all but the top cb prospects anyways.

Not every kid grow up liking miami... Many like Fsu and Uf so no matter how much people b^tch and complain or how hard we recruit they are going to go where they feel like going. A lot of kids just want to get away from southflorida too

How many of his former players does richt want? Rumph ain't making the final decisions. If his players weren't really feeling Miami from the get go you think just because their former coach is here they will all just commit?

What all this dumb **** comes down to is y'all thought just because rumph was hired, Brian burns who had no prior interest in Miami would commit just because rumph is here.

When burns decided that late in the process to not visit everybody started talking ****.

really cause people are upset that somehow rumph didn't pull in kids for ah for 16 class. not me. so yea may be common sense but others on here obviously don't think so.

How is rumph going to tell players to go to Miami when golden wasn't recruiting them and wasn't giving them offers. I bet you can count on one hand how many guys from heritage actually were offered.

Rumph said his problem with golden and his staff was that they were not coming by the school and out of state schools were around much more.

Also add to the fact miami hasn't been good since 2003 and you wonder why guys are not running to jump on board.

yes and rumph also said UM wasn't recruiting michel. rumph has been just as full of sh*t as golden. would of fit perfectly on that staff. i hope he can at least coach. don't like those high school hires done just for recruiting purposes.

He wasn't hired for recruiting. Rumph doesn't have any plugs in sfla and is not a huge name. Richt must believe he will do a good job of coaching the cbs.

Dude being a former cane was likely ****ed at how the staff was ignoring his school and players. How would you feel if all these big programs are coming for your players but your struggling alma mater is saying there are not good enough?

i understand what you;re saying but i'm calling bs that his players weren't being recruited. there were plenty that were. you don't think he's going to have an issue recruiting his players after they've heard him not have anything positive to say about the program the past 3 or 4 years. he dug himself in that hole. i think he's already on short leash with the fan base bc of his relationship with the program and i don't care if golden or shannon were coaching, you don't turn your back on your alma mater

I only remembered Sony being recruited by UM. Who else did Rumph coach that Al wanted. I know OSU told Gibson he'll be a qb. I think we need to accept that the previous staff overlooked a lot of prospects. Not so much that coaches were running them away.

Rumph just seems out of his league.

I understand why Richt took a risk on hiring him (former Cane & NFL player, good HS coach, young), BUT we're not established enought to be taking these risks.

Maybe Rumph can turn it around, but with missing on 0-4 Heritage kids, poor CB depth to begin with, and not much backup plan his seat has to already be hot imo.

We're also not even in it for Stanford Samuels, who is more talented than Bandy and Wilson.

That was an utter embarrassment yesterday.

We need to get the banners going, early and often. Dude has got to go. He can go get a paycheck somewhere else to fail to bring in his former players (everyone at heritage), to wish kids good luck when they rub dirt in our eyes (Byrd), to promote the commitment of a recruit to an in state rival.

Those AH kids were not going to come here with or without Rumph. This is us paying for Al Golden and his crew ******** up Quincy's recruitment and then telling Quincy and Chad that they don't know what they're talking about. The well was poisoned. It will take another cycle for us to get over some of the things the previous staff did and said.

And if our secondary plays great, then what? How about we play some **** games first. I want wins, not tweeter warriors.
