Is VT defense legit?

USF was a pretty decent D until we played them. GT was a top 10 D as wel, but we made them both look below average. We just have too many players for a team to key in on just one.

We should be able to score some points on them.

They're better this year than they've been in awhile. They have the same guy coaching them, but he has better players. There are 4 or 5 NFL players in that secondary alone.

I agree about their secondary. Morris won't see a lot of zone coverage as he has the last two games. VTech will play tight man coverage and force Morris to be accurate with the ball.

Vag Tech's defense has struggled at times over the years when their secondary hasn't allowed Pud Foster to play the type of in your face press coverage he likes to play. Unfortunately, this is one of the best secondaries he's had since Vick's big year. Morris will need to be healthy. This will be his toughest challenge aside from uf.ag.
 
One of the biggest breaks we're getting this year is playing them at home again. Thank god for Syracuse and Pitt joining this year.

Didn't USF allow 53 points to an FCS team. They played Mich St well, but their (MSU) offense is putrid.

I think they are legit. But they always are. It's no different this year. It'll come down to if they can score on our offense because their offense is abysmal.

Our turnovers against GT will KILL us against VT, because we are not likely to score like we did today.

VT has a legit defense..... they are our ONLY threat in the Coastal b/c of their defense.

But Miami's offense is something they are going to have a hard time stopping consistently enough to win the game.... Our defense will cause more punts then they will in the end.
 
They have no threats - at all - on the edges.

And that D can be had. Marshall did some things.
 
Their defense is more than legit, it's elite. Very good DLine with two disruptors at DT, solid at LB, and a great secondary. Their secondary might be tougher than the Florida D we faced that was trying out different guys at safety.

Our offense is getting better by the game though and should score enough to get the Win.

I dont think their defense is elite at all honestly.... secondary and entire defense isnt better then Florida's.

Guys keep repeating that, but Thomas has improved tremendously. He looks like he did a couple years ago. They don't need to score 50 points per game with that defense.

They will be a bear especially coming off what will be a brutal war with fsu.

he's improving and making better decisions but he has no weapons. His WR's can't catch (have to lead the nation in drops) and they have no threat at RB. Unless we go full ****** and let him run all over us, I just can't seem them moving the ball consistently.

They have 4 All-ACC quality players at CB and their starting safeties are good (#34 particularly). When we played UF, safety was a question mark for them with inexperienced players like Maye out there (don't think he played much after the Dorsett TD). I'd say UF's defense is slightly better, their Dline is ridiculous.
 
Maybe not but it doesnt have to be in order to beat us. We stroll in there thinking we can beat them playing like we did today there are gonna be some sad characters on this board. Vtech "held serve" by beating UNC and Gtech. The only team that stands in there way now from getting to the ACC title game AGAIN is us. And vice versa of course.

Looking at VT's schedule, we still won't know if their defense is legit by the time we play them. They'll be 8-1, 5-0 heading into Miami because they have Pitt, Duke and BC before us.
 
Our bye weeks are poor this year. Prior to SSU and UNC while we have FSU and VT back to back. Ugh.

How VT or Miami did against GT has no barring on how they will play against one another..... VT barely beat Marshall and ECU so lets not act like Miami is the only team that has to make sure they are focused when we play them.

VT doesnt have the offensive ability to beat Miami if both teams played perfectly.... the only way its going to stay close, is if Miami doesnt resolve our turnover issues.

VT's offense isnt going to be able to score enough on Miami and their defense aint keeping us out of the endzone.

I'm not looking at stats. I'm watching him play. And his last two games have been very good. Whitfield has done a nice job with him because he's starting to look like he did two years ago when everyone had their tongues up his ***.

This one will be an absolute war. Does VT play any good ACC teams other than us?
