Is it just time to accept we’ll never be “back”?

No, and it will never be that time. Miami is a sleeping giant and one year, the right coach, with the right staff and the right budget will put us back. So far, it's just not happened with Mario. Hoping he does get it. Mark my words, regardless of what his contract says or doesn't say, if Mario ends next season with fewer than 9 wins and shows tons of promise for the future, he will be replaced within 13 months from the end of next season.

I don't want that. I want him to succeed. But, he painted himself into this corner and he either gets this fixed and in a hurry or he might want to also do serious introspection on whether or not he's equipped to do the job he was hired for - just like Emory.

I don't want to be right about this. I want to eat crow about this in the worst way.
It's all about the $ and while we have top 20 $ we don't have top 6-8 $.

Only teams that can win now are Bama, UGA, LSU, Texas, OSU, Oregon until Knight dies, Michigan, Clemson.

I told the board this a while ago. We finished **** near the exact way, too, except that team at least made it to the ACCCG.
And beat some decent teams. Btw, a Parkinson’s addled Richt had us 19-7 after his first two years and probably our two best wins since George W Bush in ‘17. We are stuck in a mound of ****

I threw those dreams away 15-20 sum years ago lol. Is a consistent 10win team every year too much to ask for first?

A friend messaged me last night, he’s a Miami fan…. “We’re the Cowboys, it’s over. Let it go”

I used to be like this, especially during the Manny years. **** some on here use to call me a FSU fan because of how negative I was lmao

But I’ve learned that it just ain’t that serious. I don’t let these games ruin my day anymore. Doesn’t mean I don’t care, but it makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Nothing I do or say is going to make the on field product better. Doesn’t make me a slurper or happy with the deficiencies of the product. But I rather be optimistic and if things go our way, even better. I ain’t gonna be miserable either tho.

Putting all criticisms of Mario and everyone else to the side- all we had to do was hold a 21-point lead and we would have made the playoff.

If you can get that close, you can get over the hump. Is the current guy going to get it done? I won't pretend to know, and pessimism is the safest bet over the past 20 years. But I don't see how you watch this season and say there's no path back to the top for the program.

we had a once in a generation QB and barely won 10.

I became this right when the whole Richt thing fell apart. I just lowered my expectation and just wanna get out of the 7-5 funk we been at for the last 20 years.

You are like 15 years late lol

I think once in a generation is an overused term. Mario had a QB like that five years ago.

Cam is as elite as it gets, but we shouldn't have to wait an entire generation for another stud QB. We just need to take more advantage of the next guy.

I thought like this for a very long time but after the game yesterday it finally hit me - something just always derails any momentum we have. Loss to GT - ok every team except Oregon lost to a sub par opponent this year. Blow a 21 point lead to SU with the playoffs on the line???? I mean…fvck off lol.

If Cam plays the 2nd half and we win that game it’s an 11 win season, we end on a winning note and recruits can buy into something. Now it’s back to - hey look at UM, their QB quit on them after he got an individual record in game he easily could have won for them, they have no momentum and are still stuck in the ACC. That **** only happens to UM. I’m probably overreacting but yesterday’s result and the perception it gives off closed the coffin door. Hope I’m wrong.

Yes, we will never be a constant to win it all.

I knew this to be the case when they hired Shannon.

I hoped a reinvigorated Richt coming back to coach is Alma mater would prove me wrong.

Nothing has changed that opinion, in fact the changes in college football have reinforced it. While most here thought big city Miami would be a NIL advantage, they underestimated the power of big state schools massive (compared to us) alumni bases.

I don't recall when I said it (it was prior to the playoff expansion) , but the hopes in the future are down to a good run or two a decade at best. That's not even for a national championship.

With the playoffs, at least we've got a better chance than I previously thought. I have zero faith that Mario will lead us to another title.
