Is it just time to accept we’ll never be “back”?

Program is not cursed lol, we just simply don’t have the money like the big schools, that’s all. If we did most the top players in Florida would be going to Miami, I’ll always be a Cane but it is what it is

I mean that’s a given. That’s been done.

I’m just hoping for fun seasons, conference championships, bowl wins, rivalry game wins.

A national championship will never happen again: that’s not even in my mind

Yeah, unfortunately that’s what things seem like. That’s why I still don’t understand why a bunch of our dumbass fans were excited and thought this NIL thing was good for us or **** even the game in general. The current structure is set more like MLB and old NFL where the richest teams are always be the best with this wild wild west bull****. What needed to happen was the NCAA cracking down fairly on the teams cheating and paying players under the table with brown bags, parents jobs, houses, and other ****. They could have also given the players a stipend to go along with their free tuition, room, meals, etc.

Oh well. It was fun during my childhood, but good things don’t last forever.

Firing coaches is a waste of time.
No, it is not easy to win at Miami anymore. Richt had an easier time winning the SEC East than he did winning the garbage Coastal. Cristobal had an easier time winning the Pac 12 than a garbage ACC.
Diaz had a better record at Duke.
The super bowls are just Bowl Wins and seasons with more than 9.

This year we can’t blame it on Shalala, or Eichorst, or Beta Blake. We didn’t hire a Temple coach or promote from within.
We can try to blame it on not having SEC/Big10 money, but LOL if you think we thrive in those conferences.

The next coach will have the same issues.

even if we land the right coach

Look around. We have a half empty stadium with a Heisman candidate while 9-0

Were not in the SEC or BIG10

We don’t have the money or status of the big schools.

It’s not gonna happen.

This. Our day in the sun is LONG over: Miami died for good in the '05 Peach Bowl.

They have to get the coaching hire right. They haven’t in the over 22 years I’ve been a fan. I don’t know if they ever will.
They’ve never hired an elite X’s and O’s HC in 20 years. Closest was an over the hill Mark Richt. Ever other coach was a lazy hire (Coker, Shannon, Diaz) or a “up and comer” who we hoped was the next big thing (Golden). Now the one time they wanna play big boy football and go all in.. they are 10 years too late and chose Mario. NIL has somewhat taken away Mario’s superpower (recruiting).

Richt who was suffering from an illness got us to #2 in the nation and an ACC conference championship game appearance with not nearly the resources being poured into the program. Lashlee came in and with Miami rejects went undefeated in the conference Miami can be a force if the powers that be put THEIR AGENDAS aside and put Miami first.

Might be time to accept that reality, but this next season will show what we are. Teams have rough seasons sometimes when going "all in." Thing is, the elite teams don't stop just because the season didn't go their way. They recommit their resources and try again.

What will we do? Do we pick up our ball and go home with the expectation that this is as good as it will ever get? Or do we recommit and put the best product on the field we can? Everything can, and should, be under scrutiny right now, from the top down. Nothing should be considered safe, or untouchable, not even Mario. If Miami truly wants to be a force, invest, and put the best product on the field period. Commit to do this every year and you will eventually break through. Don't commit, and you'll never be back.

But unfortunately it's not up to us as fans... It's up to boosters, NIL, and admin to determine our fate.
Said end of December 2023.

Somewhere around ‘04-‘05 selfishness took over from HC to players. Whether it was Coker firing his staff that won him 2 nattys* or this 3 and done mentality that brought us guys like Willie Williams, the team first concept was lost. I wanted to believe Mario would fix this via “culture,” but when you contrast our situation with the ACC against the bigger landscape of CFB, we are toast. The numbers that the B1G and $EC will be generating by the time this GOR expires will make it financially infeasible for us to compete. I believe we finished #14 in recruiting rankings this year. Every team ahead of us was $EC or B1G (maybe ND also?). If you take off the orange and green glasses and your kid was a 5 star, you send him to a B1G or $EC school. It just makes sense. I hate this, but it’s the sad truth. I feel like our only real potential path to success on a national scale is if some sort of drastic realignment/reorganization happens real soon. Without that, the gulf between the haves and have nots grows.
