Interesting Tidbit From Scout

So just a question but who's fault is it that the O-line is underachieving (along with Morris)? Morris'? Kehoe's? Coley's? I hate the fact that we often get stuffed with a zone blocking scheme, and what often seems like poor, "safe" play calling on offense takes place. I don't hear a lot of "fire Coley" calls on here, just a **** ton of "fire D'Nofrio" calls on here. I'm no coach or genius when it comes to breaking down football, but I know our offense has not held up to expectations just as bad as our D has not held up to expectations.

I agree with all of this.. I'd say the blame is equally on Coley & Kehoe.. but Coley gets a pass though.. This is only his 2nd year at calling plays (only other was 1 year at FIU) and 1st at UM. Hopefully he can learn on the fly. Kehoe has no excuse. This OL shuffle he has been doing has been a huge failure along with our entire scheme. Time for him to "retire".

Its WAY too early to have this convo. Lets see how the season plays out before we start having talks about "who gets fired", and "How much power Al has" blah blah. We win 10 games and nobody is going anywhere. We win 9 games and nobody is going anywhere. We lose to Duke, stumble to win 7-8 games and 29,000 fans show up for the last home game in a meaningless game against UVA THEN lets bring this topic up again in regards to what Al is and isnt gonna do.

"Talked to my source today any and the honeymoon is over at UM. Last night did not sit well with some of the higher ups and there will be wholesale changes in the staff on both sides of the ball. The Canes are not a very talented squad, but the coaching and developing of players has not been good. I believe you will see a new DC, OLine coach and another position coach on the defensive side of the ball will be looking for work."

Supposedly this guy had been correct on numerous things in the past, including the new unis. We shall see.

No disrepect, but no way is this coaching staff and Al Golden in trouble. Not after they all stuck it out through the NCAA mess for 3 years. You really think they arer going to fire
people after one bad loss? Yes, I don't count FSU because they are elite right now.

Please be true. For our sake and Al's. Love Al but bum coaches like Coach D and Jethro aren't going to get it done.

I think our OL is fine. At the end of the day, I don't think any objective football person can sit there and say our O line has played poorly or been poorly coached.

I respectfully disagree. (although I completely agree with Morris not helping the situation) We struggle tremendously in short yardage and goalline situations.. which is where games are won & lost. They get exposed every game. Without a doubt they are our most underachieving unit we have when considering experience, depth & talent.

Don't be fooled. Our offense is very good this year and our qb and offensive lines are a big reason why.

Our offense is back to being Miami caliber. Our defense isn't even in the same zip code

Wait a second.
What I'm getting after reading this thread is that there is no short term fix for the defense that will allow us to win any more games this year.
That we will have to wait for some new coaches to make a change.
Really! That's how it works.
I mean it's fknnn football.
You're telling me that this football staff can't see the same things we are seeing or are too stupid to see that something is wrong.
For the love of God, I hope this staff has had some sleepless nights and has decided to get back to some basics that will get us thru the season with some wins.
Tackle and cover.
Stop making excuses and blaming the lack of talent, do your jobs.

It's funny our offense was as good or bad as Morris was going to be. If he was going to have that elite senior year that most were predicting, we'd be sitting here today looking forward to our rematch with FSU.

I believe our offense has the ability/potential to be great but aren't quite back to Miami (NC) caliber. We still have too many turnovers and do not capitalize when we should. We have to be consistent and efficient on 3rd down and take better care of the ball. IMO

my best guess would be Coley... our offense was pretty good last year, and ended off the season on a high.. we haven't seen that from our offense this year.

Hilarious. We have a coach who has managed to get the program turned around while beneath threat of severe NCAA sanctions, a coach who stood with the U through it all, took all the heat while everyone knew full well that he had nothing to do with it, and anyone really thinks the higher ups at the university are going to come in and try to force him to make changes to his staff. Guarenteed if they tried to do this Al would tell them to stick it and walk, and we would be lucky to find a pee wee league coach who would take the job after he left.

The reason for people wanting a new coach is because coach D is really stubborn, he will keep doing the same thing over and over again, the 2 gap obviously doesnt work but he will still run it, he will keep telling the line to engage blockers and not to go after the QB, its his stubbornish that is killing this defense

It's this type of weakness that has UM fans inventing new ways to contort themselves into justifying the miserable defense we have. If Corch Al decided to walk away from his contract because UM told him to fix that sht D of his there would be a line of guys banging on the door to take the HC gig. Bob Petrino would run his Harley into another ditch trying to get here faster than anyone.

You guys act like UM is Temple. UM's a sleeping giant. Get your expectations up.

yeah he must of missed that and the fact we cant stop nobody. 7-2 some of these people say that like its a good thing. We struggled vs teams with a lot less talent than us .

Rumblings gon' rumble.

Any details being PM'd out?

7-2 is great and all, but anyone who is happy after giving up over 1500 yds of offense the last 2 weeks is out of their mind.

It is not the 7-2 that has us upset. It is thought of 7-5, losing the last five games and the realization that we could be 4-5 right now with very little trouble. Close come from behind wins take on different meanings when they are followed by two crushing blow outs. If Al wins out, things will calm down until some team crushes us in a bowl game.

Maybe Donna can get Mark a job in the State Department-- The US doesn't like to hit anyone either.

The problem is not and has not been our record this year. If we came into this season and lost 4 games, I would not have been surprised. Most of us have a problem with the fact that weak *** offenses look like the 2nd generation of Peyton Manning/ Tom Brady, etc at peak form against our defenses. I was a little worried when I watched UF moving the ball against us, but we made big stops. I started to suspect that our defensive success was only because we played weak offenses after the UNC game, but UNC was supposed to have a decent offense this year, so I kept my expectations down some. After WF moved the ball however they wanted on our defense, I was legitimately concerned that we could not stop a pass to save our lives. Once VT bent us over with no lube, I was officially done with dnofrio. Yes I know people say this is Golden's scheme, but maybe the problem is just the way Dnofrio runs it. Either way, I'm over this defense. The talent excuse does not work when we are playing teams with crap offenses. We might not have 01 type of talent, but most of our players are not scrubs either.
