Interesting NFL Draft stat on "player development"

Chill with the slippery rock bull, my momma graduated the rock. Dang mane

Did NOT demean Slippery Rock - just a reference of a non-major football team - that I happen to like their colors - British Racing Green - and a very cool name for a university - Slippery Rock. Having a bit of Welsh in me, it just rolls off the tongue as smooth as fresh churned butter.

As opposed to what Auburn would be named if it referred to their surroundings - "Field of Weeds."

Or Clemson - "Land of Tractors."

My apologies to your momma if this reference was found to be objectionable.

We all good my fellow cane. I was just being foolish lol. I was actually shocked that slippery rock was even known about by anyone outside my family. I've never heard or seen it mentioned before let alone on cis. But my mom is most def a proud slippery rock grad and teacher

I think people are under estimating how abysmal this program has been. You don't go 7-6 at Miami, and lose to teams like Duke and Virginia, if you are developing players.

Unless you're saying that our recruiting was so bad that we're out there with a bunch of scrubs who were destined to be undrafted players.

Even sub-par teams who don't recruit at a high level are developing a few 1st/2nd round draft picks.
U go 7-6 becuase the offense couldn't score, like how do u not take that into factor.

Redwine and M. Jackson improved leaps and bounds while they were here?
Were they crippled when we signed them? Cause they ended up being nothing more than decent late-round players while they were here.
Are you telling me that they were complete scrubs coming out of high school and our coaches turned them into 4th/5th round players?

Both of those guys have elite measureables.

The whole reason everybody on this board was surprised by Redwine's measureables was because he didn't play like that on the field. So how did we utilize him properly? (not a single Miami fan knew that we had a 6'1" Safety with 4.4 speed in our secondary)
I agree 100%

🙄 Didn't think I had to mention that OBVIOUS factor. But that wasn't our only issue.
Nah bruh, scoring less than 14 points for 3 sttaight games, the offense going 3 and out almost everytime was literally the reason we lost those games. We shouldn't be scoring less than 28 points a game against those teams but we couldn't even get half of that, **** was pathetic.

Again, for those knocking development here. Show us who underachieved here then blew up with better coaching and S&C at the NFL.

It’s easy to speak in generalities, now give us an actual example.

****...
Show me a Cane going into the NFL that doesn't have knocks about their technique.

Show me a kid we signed (from high school) who exceeded expectations while here.

Either we sucked at developing (S&C included)...
Or we sucked at recruiting.
Because we're not producing studs.

The 4/5 star kids that we do get, have mediocre careers here and get drafted relatively low.

You're right, that was the ONLY program with this program.

That's the point. We rank high on this list because we have an inordinate amount of underrated three-star players. Their talent gets them to the NFL, not the development.

LOL...players aren't going to the league based on high school talent...while the development here hasn't been Butch Davis elite level...it still takes development to get drafted into the NFL.

This is a good point...we don't have one player that's blown up in the NFL with better coaching in the NFL that underachieved here.

The first seven programs on this list are exactly who you would expect. Those programs are known for developing players.

Miami's presence is an outlier. My guess is this has more to do with Miami's prospects being underrated as recruits than player development. Any theories?

Nah...you're wrong AF.

Under Richt...

I will say...only one person could say they legitimately were developing players. Hartley.

Njoku - 1st Round pick
Herndon - 3rd Round pick, without injury, probably goes higher.

Both three star guys.

Someone is going to mention Mike Rumph as someone that develops talent...well...we ain't seen it yet. Bunch of Day 3 talents, unfortunately. Even the ones I liked.

Of course. But there needs to be reason why Miami is ahead of so many other schools. Are they developing at the level of Iowa and Wisconsin?

My guess is that Miami is putting so many three stars in the league because their three stars are more talented coming in.
