I'm torn between Radio's first four years, and what Golden's first four years will be. To date, it's looking like they're neck and neck, but I'm giving the win to Radio since he at least had a hint of a defense.
On game day - Randy had the thousand yard stare, and Golden while not staring, seems unable to catch up to the game.
Recruiting is tanking, as these young guys aren't stupid, and can see what's going on. We're losing all the top recruits to other 'winning' programs. How many four stars does Bama have? 12? 14?
Where as this coaching staff has some deficiencies, it is as a whole a superior coaching staff and operation compared to Randy's tenure here. We've moved the program forward facilities wise, the talent level here is by far superior now than it was when Randy left. The 2009, 2010 classes were an embarassment. Remember Randy played in this weak *** coastal too and didn't do ****... I fault Golden for many things like playing guys such as AJ Highsmith, Jimmy Gaines & KC Rodgers over others who were young but physically more capable of doing what was asked. I blame him for Dorito & Jethro. I blame him for being stubborn & not providing a defensive scheme which is suitable for our local talent base. Where I blame Randy, he took the already crashed ferrari, turned it into Geo Prism & set that **** on fire while on cruise control. Donna is as much to blame for allowing it to happen.
In a head 2 head comparison though, Golden is by far a superior coach & administrator over Randy.
Good comments. I agree he's a far superior administrator than Randy, but Randy never. Ever. Had such a crappy defensive scheme.
I still can't decide.
You talking the randy that got throttle 480-0 to a mediocre Virginia game in the last EVER in the Orange bowl. That right there is the equivalent of finish with the bad ranking this administration has had to deal with, defection by starters and key back-up without any notice. The NCAA holding the team hostage for 3 flipping YEARS. If you all can't see that, not sure what to say. I was all for Randy even after that abortion until the Virginia game, where Stephen's red-shirt was burned. He would not have flown back with the team, if I was AD.
That was a horrible game... I remember an interview with Benny Blades that night... He looked like he wanted to fight that night... He was restraining himself from going off due to the embarrassment... That being said, that wasnt a mediocre UVA squad... They were in contention for the ACC game until the last 2 games... I believe they won like 9 games and like I said earlier the coastal was a lot tougher... And that 07 team was worse than 2011 squad... We had a qb who went 1-14 in a game and another qb who finally matured only to be injured all year and despite a few beat downs to good squads were still better defensively... Terez McCray was like a 280 lb DT and was light-years better than what we have witnessed the past 4 years...
That being said his failures during his 4th year is what did him in, such UVA game(you referenced earlier), FSU, USF, VT, and OSU game... However, in their first 3 years on the job AG hasn't done much better than RS... The NCAA was a cloud but it had no affect on our on field production...
I mean RS had his clouds and obstacles... The media perceived violence at the U was a cloud... The brawl, Pata's murder, ST's murder, and Willie Cooper being shot and Merriweather shooting back in defense... Those issues scared parents... However none of that contributed to his on field failures...
