IF YOU ARE MAKING AN EXCUSE FOR AL GOLDEN

The only hope is to stockpile talent and get him surrounded by good coordinators. Look at FSU with their new coordinators and assistants this year. We can't continue like this, that is for sure.

At least nobody is going to be calling for Al any time soon. I'll give him one more year before officially getting on board the get rid of Al train.

The man is a great recruiter...if he can stockpile talent....its a major advance.

If he can stockpile more talent, it'll make him look a lot better as a coach.

We just don't have the talent level of a "top 10" team.

We have enough talent to stop one of the worst offenses in the country like Duke and BC did

Its his defensive philosophy
He brought this defensive staff down from temple
He recruited the way he did good or bad
He allowed VT to put up over 500 yards of offense
He got blown out by FSU
He failed to prepare the team for the last four weeks
He eeked out wins against powerhouses such as wake Forrest and UNC
He got the schedule he wanted which is one of the softest I've ever seen
He has this team playing as bad if not worse than last year
Hes had three years and has done **** on the field in those three years other than make the schedule easier
He went 6-6, 7-5 and currently 7-2 and staring down an unraveling season.
He failed to make the ACCCG his first two seasons and will most likely fail again this season

You can defend him all you want and use the NCAA and Randy Shannon as an excuse. But it's year three and the defense is as bad as ever. He's got guys that have been in his scheme for 2 and 3 years. Absolutely no reason we should be this bad. You want to have blind faith go ahead but it's time to realize golden is not the guy to get us where we want to go.

Either he changes his philosophy on defense and gets rid of Dorito or he needs to go and not after next year but at the end of the season. Either he puts the program above his friend and above his failed philosophy or he needs to get out

You were on a roll before the duke loss. Preach it...

Ok. Good points, EXCEPT, the FACT that he DID make the ACCCG in year 2! We just didn't play in it because of Nevingate! Jus sayin'...

He didn't kake any ACC CG in year 2. UNC won it on the field, and we were self imposing no matter what.

We were third in the Coastal in '12, just like in '13.

Al is htting every ball out of the park except that D he runs. He does too much too right to cut him lose. Recruiting is the single most important thing in college football. If you doubt that just think about Larry Coker going to TWO NCs in a row. He could not coach, lead or recruit. He fired our best assistants to save his neck. He was a horrible coach. Yet, with one of the greatest teams ever, he win one and loses another. I agree that Al needs serious, serious help on the D. It is just horrible. But, this class is looking like a beast. Do we really want to fire him now. Worst case, let him recruit two more classes like this. If he hasn't come to grips with he D failure, then throw him and BFF under the bus and gring someone with better X's and O's. Remember Urdan was a "GREAT" coach until he ran our of Ron Zook recruits.

Yeah let's change head coaches and do it now in the middle of the recruiting season. Who cares that he stood by the program when he had to recruit with one hand behind his back. Makes sense to me. The OP is a complete idiot.

I agree with some of your points. If you don't like Coach Golden, you will be miserable here year after year after year because he is not leaving for a loooooooooooooong time. Just think what a lousy life you will have, sort of like the character Gollum in The Lord of the Rings.

Lets go to the message board and whine and cry like children about Al because we really can't do a **** thing to change anything. Donna won't take your calls because your no one and not worthy of her time. Newspapers won't give you anytime because your no one of importance, you have no recourse other then ***** and rant because again you are not relevant. What a shame that Miami football can give one **** about you or your lynch mob. Al will be here as long as he wants, live with it or find another team.

for the most part I agree with you but a few things:

1. Coker was/is a better game day coach than AG. AG MAY be a better recruiter and program runner but we will see
2. recruiting is going to hit the ******* if we dont get a real defense. they will stop coming. I am frankly surprised that the defensive class hasnt started to fall apart after the abortion we've seen for 3 years

If something in your life causes you grief do you except it do you act? Go to the Gables knock on Donnas door and cry to her and when you walk out you will have a dose of reality that your just a pimple on her ***. Funny thing is all you pimples on her *** can't hurt her or Al. Your powerless!

If you are "surprised" by what happens, that usually indicates that there are underlying factors that you do not understand. Go figure.

2nd dude. That's why when Miami self-imposed Georgia Tech went to the ACC Championship Game.

this post is funny, i respect Randy especially for all the positive he brought to the school before he took as head coach. however, can you image Randy leading the team thru this tough time with the NCAA. AJ's grandmother would have had to leave her post in the school's bookstore and suit up for us. Guy had one good recruiting class! Am I happy with the way the defense has looked? **** no, however, if things don't change with better athletes we are in trouble with Al.

Lol at this pseudo-intellectual and his pyscho-babble.

Miami has improved under Golden. Just improved slower than our competition.

Third in the Coastal, and that was with miracle wins against UNC and WF.

Not "psycho-babble." Actually, a completely obvious fact. You missed a much better point though. Bigtip was probably just using the phrase "I am frankly surprised" more as a rhetorical device than to imply that he was actually flabbergasted.

My partial evaluation of Coach Golden
1. He is a good recruiter, partly because he is thorough and relentless and the kids and their parents like him.
2. He is scrupulous about details
3. Most of the kids seem to buy into the program and the requisite work ethic. Many of those that do not buy in wind up leaving.
4. His knowledge of Xs and Os seems suspect. Many of the posters here know more about this aspect of the game than I do, and a lot of them question our schemes.

Canes Insight is for those who know what they are talking about. 10 wins, for a team that was facing the NCAA for three years, with lack of talent, and has had three very good recruiting classes (this one being a commit or two away from elite) is very good. Professionals (I'm not going to assume you know what that is, so its someone with actual knowledge of football, programs, and coaching) gave him an award for being an "Outstanding Coach" so no offense, you saying that Golden is a bad coach, and that your word holds more merit than the experts, is like a 3rd grade science teacher saying we should believe his energy equation over Einstein's...

The "experts" sure knew what they were talking bout when they gave Coker two Coach of the Year awards
