I have never seen Willie Williams play in person, but from the sounds of it he was a supreme athlete. Played against Ernie Sims in high school and watched him play, probably the best athlete ive been on the field with (save for Fred Rouse, Roy Upchurch) but if Willie was an better athlete than Ernie thats crazy

Willie was a pass rusher. A few years ahead of the times. And Shannon wanted to make him something he wasn’t. 4/3 off the ball backer wasn’t his calling.

kid should realize he would come here and more than likely start immediately if he is what we think. 3 years of great play and he gets paid. I am sure he can go elsewhere and start but we are losing our top 3 LBs.

I don't fully remember how we missed on Marvin Jones in 1990? Anyone remember that story?

This kid is an absolute monster, him at LB in our downhill attacking defense would be fun to watch.

saw both play in high school and Sims was the better all-around player, better top end speed. Williams was a lot bigger. Both hit like tanks.

Willie dominated the state title game that was played in Orlando..I believe he broke the QB’s arm on the first few plays of the game. He played DE though.

willie was older than everyone though. if not for a rule change before his senior year..he would have not played. He played in the dade vs broward game his junior year bc he was too old to play as a senior.

The issue was Willie had to go to Baypoint (Alternative School) after getting in trouble and couldn't play.
Willie Played stand up End. But he had the ability to play Linebacker. Carol City ran a 3-4 as theh had a bunch of LB's his sr year that were div 1 types.

He wasnt too old to play his sr year or they wouldnt have allowed him to. It wasnt like he was some unknown guy...Willie was known about from the end of his 10th grade year.

I know on our OV, we often take kids to the Rusty Pelican. To be honest, that wouldn’t impress a Cali kid, especially one from the IE or OC. We have our own Rusty Pelican out on the waters in New Port Beach. Even hood dudes go there to impress their side chicks.

I don't think Manny uses Rusty Pelican. Some of the last OVs reported they went to Prime 112.

“Following his year at Pace, Williams participated in the Dade-Broward All-Star Game, an event for high schoolers without remaining eligibility.

As a freshman, Williams had been involved in a car accident that caused him to skip the entire season (he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street, spent one month in the hospital and missed 90 days of school), but Florida High School Athletic Association rules did not allow for any sort of redshirting of players.

However, at the end of the year, Williams transferred to nearby Carol City High with the hopes that Jeff Paris, the school’s athletic director, would find a way to make him eligible.

It was his sixth high school in five years. “When I met Willie, I knew he had a strong case,” Paris told the Herald at the time. “This was a kid that got hit by a car in the face during his freshman year of high school. He deserves a shot at playing four years of high school ball.

After a lengthy hearing, the FHSAA (to the shock of many) agreed, and Williams was allowed to take the field for Carol City, the state’s top-ranked team in Class 6A.

In Miami, the news was covered—but not heavily covered. Navarro penned a story that appeared on Page 11D of the Sept. 13, 2003, Herald, headlined "Chiefs' Williams Ruled Eligible.''

I was wrong about the rule change but he was older than everyone.
