I think CFB overtakes NFL in 20 years

Sitting through an NFL game is actually torture, I can toss on a random college game and be entertained at least, maybe if I had an NFL team it'd be better.

I think fantasy football gets replaced by the college equivalent as the popularity ratio flips.

what’s the equivalent for college football?

There’s a huge contingent of NFL “fans” that don’t really watch games but they play fantasy football

Wait until this year's playoff has five SEC teams and four Big Ten Teams before your rush to judgement.

NFL will always be king because of less teams and more popular players + it’s easy for normies to pick up and drop teams as they go.

Regardless college ball is far more entertaining on any given year and it’s way more players/storylines to follow so people will naturally know less.

NFL to me was better in the 70's - early 2000's, less roster turnovers, allow for fans to build loyalty to players and teams.
 
Yup. They are and will be the AFL. Anticeptic Football League.
So much more entertainment these day, so much less real football. Check out the commercials to see the target audience (Macys etc).

For myself, it's gotten to the point where I just have no interest or desire to watch the NFL anymore. It wasn't always like this. 30 years ago, I couldn't wait for opening Sunday. I would get together with a bunch of my friends and get a big table at our favorite sports bar, hammer pitchers of beer, eat wings and enjoy taking in all the games. The NFL had a great product back then. Now? Not so much.
 
Once upon a time CFB was superior than the NFL, now it’s not & if CFB continues down this path, it won’t ever be b/c it’s slowly eroding the pageantry that makes the game great.

I go to college bars around L.A all the time & whether I’m in an Iowa bar, Minnesota, UCLA, USC, SDSU, Illinois bar, all of the fans r saying the same thing; they don’t like where CFB is heading & structure is needed.

Furthermore, FFB has made the NFL exponentially more popular today than it’s been in quite sometime.

Well, you see what the SEC and Big 10 have done. They're not just anybody into the conference. They are getting the best teams to generate revenue. It wouldn't surprised me if they try to kick some teams out of the conference (trimming fat). lol

Someone will make it if CFB continues to become more popular in my opinion. Honestly I can imagine what it would like myself. Everyone can start out with a NIL budget and go shopping around for players in place of a draft, and from there it's basically the same thing. **** maybe I will make it lol.

I think that's a lot of hyperbole, most people I talk to echo those in this thread, CFB is better. The consensus seems to be that this year in particular is better than ever. The doomers saying NIL or conference realignment will kill things have simply been dead wrong.

This is the best counter argument so far. Maybe I'm just discounting the filthy casuals aka most people. Question is WHY is it more popular for them? I think casuals follow the die hards in the long run, and as those shift to CFB, the casuals will follow because they are followers. They go to what is popular, and the market accommodates them, not the other way around.

I think casuals follow the die hards in the long run, and as those shift to CFB, the casuals will follow because they are followers. Not far behind. I haven’t sat down for a day of NFL in years. I’ll only watch the occasional Dallas game or a division rivals if they’re on; and not religiously.

I don’t even watch my own team or the bfl a lot anymore. When I was young though I would play football in the hood on Saturdays and Sundays was all nfl. But that’s changes like 16 years ago.
