I still want to keep Golden... who else wants to go on record with me as being pro-Golden? I know the Golden bashers will jack this thread... but I want to see the pro-Golden posters line up with me. Anyone out there? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Crickets! But seriously, let's go on the record here and now so that when we win the whole **** thing this coming year or next, we will know who was right. By the way, I am not one of those posters that thinks that just because a fan wants Golden out of here makes him or her any less of a fan than me. That is absurd.

WELL NOW THAT WE'VE GOT YOU ON THE RECORD, SHUT THINGS DOWN.

But seriously...Tough question these days.

I think Golden can be successful here. Organized, passionate, hard-working, charismatic. Independent of his PSU ball-tickling, I really like the man.

But, ya know, D'Potato's still around.

Half point.

Back when Donna's first head coaching hire (coker) was failing, we used to have these at-length discussions about coker being "the ceo" of the team. I think it was don bailey jr who posited that a person can be successful as a ceo type coach. I tend to agree with that but it assumes that you have elite level coordinators.

To be successful as a CEO type coach, you must be a good recruiter and a good gameday general. i see golden as being half of that.

What makes you think Golden can still be successful here?

Can he win 8-10 games a year? Maybe...but based on previous records, he'll lose the majority of the big games, and we'll never win a championship, ACC or National.

That is not being successful at Miami, in my opinion.

Have mixed emotions about him staying so you get a half point from me

Well, I'll go on record as a definitive "nay."

I just don't know what YOU saw this year with our cupcake schedule, that would come EVEN CLOSE to instilling you with such optimism and confidence we could remotely compete for the "whole **** thing" anytime, EVER-- with Golden and his handpicked, best friend, bulletproof Defensive Coordinator he refuses to cut loose.

GOD bless you Tex, but I'm supremely confident you will not only be "wrong," but sadly disappointed and frustrated as me come 2015.

I think with this recruiting class (when they are sophomores), that 2015 is our year. Yes, people have been saying for years "next year is the year" but just take a look at this recruiting class... so many of our needs have been met (assuming they sign with UM)... we will have three real possible starters at QB next year... our O-line is set for the future... assuming Duke stays another two years, we are set there for the next 4 years at RB... and our incoming class (with Valentine) on the defense has to be top 5. I feel good about this team and this coach.

I liked Golden. But the last month of our season as well as the RAB combined with this past weekend has my confidence in him fleeting. Half point here.

It's the first quarter of the big game and you wanna toss up a hail mary? I'd like to be pimps from Oakland or cowboys from Arizona but it's not Halloween. Grow up, Peter Pan! Count Chocula! Look, we've been to a million weddings and you know what? We've rocked them all.

I also want Golden to stay, but only if he wants to. I want him to be offered the job and then turn it down. He is a smart coach who understands consistency builds programs, not constantchange. As Canes we have been in the gutter for almost a decade now and we will not get back by changing regimes every three years.

And everyone who says they know something needs to shut up. So far every prediction has been wrong. Golden has no reason to tell anyone what is happening for both personal and recruiting purposes. If another company wants to pitch a job to you and you refuse to listen your a moron, regardless of how happy you are and Golden is no exception.
