I find it odd Restrepo…

Isn’t playing. I don’t begrudge him not playing. But the fact that Martinez, ward, barrow, arroyo etc (guys getting drafted of him) are playing and he isn’t, is surprising. Finish the season. Suit up. Enjoy bowl week. Play a half. Restrepo embodies everything we want in a hurricane. Mr Hurricane. Surprised all his boys are gonna play while he sits out.
Has he publicly stated that he isn’t playing?

I suspect that some of the transfers and other players have it in their NIL contracts that they have to play. Maybe X doesn’t. Honestly, like others have said, X has been the epitome of a Cane and has earned the right to do as he pleases.
How does a player “earn the right to do as he pleases”?

I have seen some mock drafts that have him in the first round (Late). He's done enough. Stay out of the game if he wants. I wish Brown and George would sit also. Let the young guys get in.

George will probably push someone late and cost us crucial yards. Brown will alligator arm a 1st down catch. I want to see Carr and JoJo.
There was a mock draft that had X as a first rounder lol? No way... thought brown wasn't practicing with the team? I'm def fine getting the young guys reps but would be nice if one or 2 reliable proven targets played, i.e. George and Arroyo. I'm trying to see them get that 11th win

If he gets hurt and misses all the combine and workouts, he probably slides 2-3 to later day 3. He doesn’t have nfl traits or measurable. Some other guys do (arroyo). Martinez isn’t going any higher than where he is.

It’s just an opinion. Yall get worked up over the littlest ****. I think he should play but they probably feel they have more to loser than gain.
That is what insurance is for.

You are pushing your "team fan" feelings on a real life situation. Trust me, I get it, but this is not NCAA '25. Restrepo has paid his dues and earned his stripes from a fanbase that did not accept him at first. He watched his ex-QB and starting LT go from 1st round picks to possibly never playing at the highest level. He was an all-pro and will be drafted for his skill and intangibles, not his measurables. You would criticize him because he wants to focus on the league instead of the Pop Tart bowl? The man has bailed us out all year. Mind you we could also use this game to assess our WR development for next year.

- person who played competitive sports through the aforementioned period of maturation lol.
You Are Dumb Mario Lopez GIF

I think it's a travesty that X isn't going to risk a multimillion-dollar career just so Rando McNobody gets to see him play in ******* Pop Tart Bowl. Especially after rewriting the school record books.
There is this new financial instrument that was created a couple of years ago that isn't mainstream yet called INSURANCE that the school would pay for that protects against an injury that causes a loss of future earnings.

Yea cam has a no slander badge too,I respect both decisions X absolutely loses no shine. He has had one of the greatest careers here, idc about a meaningless bowl game. He has the right to make whatever decision he feels is best for him now
i'm all for him doing what's best for him ... but despite his career accolades and despite what some posters are saying ... this a is big game for us ... we can finish this thing on a high note ... reach some milestones we haven't reached in almost 10 years and catapult us into spring recruiting ... IMO, a diehard cane leaves it better than he found it and finishes the job in the process ... i realize everyone doesn't see it as i do ... it's a thin line, but he loses some shine with me

and the elephant in the room is a top 5 pick is playing ... that pretty much kills anyone elses argument IMO ... unless he's injured of course

With Cam playing, who has the MOST to lose, Restrepo should play. Thank you for all you did, but we need a bowl game win. Portal is still open. Show up and play a half.

On the flip side, don’t sell me on “Buy tickets to see Cam and the Boys one more time, the #1 Offense in the land” and then pull an NBA load management bull**** and play them 2 series. Nah **** that.

Sit out X. Thank you for your time at The U!

Fletcher got hurt early in the Hard *** Bro Boy Bowl last season, so I don’t blame these guys 1 bit if they choose to sit out the game.

I agree. Love blue but he generally has non good takes.

As for X, will be interesting to see RRJ out there. This could be make or break for him and possibly spring board him into the spring. If he underperforms/underwhelms tomorrow, he may be a portal candidate.
RRJ???

Willis McGahee had one back in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl. Not exactly new. I'm sure the draft process and playing would still be preferable, so I still won't question his character. The seniors owe us nothing.

He shouldn’t be remembered for the fumble but idiots here will mention it all the time. What people need to remember about this year is how the defense ****ed us on a weekly basis in ACC play.
There are people in this thread who I am convinced will protest X going in the UM Ring of Honor because he took his agent’s sage advice regarding injury risk and sat the Pop Tarts Bowl out. 🤦🏻‍♂️

OP’s point is simply that he found X not playing to be odd/surprising. That is a fair point. Even many of us who feel X has given everything UM could have ever asked of him, and earned the right to choose whether to play, find it surprising that one of the greatest warriors ever to play at UM is missing out on his last game for UM.

Being surprised is not being critical.

Which makes me wonder if there is an injury of which we are not aware.

We’re surprised he is still surprised and it has been discussed in multiple other threads, thus some are being critical.
