I find it odd Restrepo…

General consensus from objectors in my original X thread weeks ago when I found out he was talking to agent about playing.

Maybe not you personally, but I find it hard to believe some of those comments came from people who have played competitive sports up to and thru adulthood.

A competitor wants to compete every single opportunity. Especially if you have a bad game/play, you want to get back out there redeem youself. Also if all your "boys" are going to battle even more incentive.

Alot of boosters paying hard earned money for X NIL package for him to play the season thru. Not walk out on chance at history.

I dont think we win this game without X.

Our toughest opponent, without one of our best players isnt a recipe for success.

Play the young guys isnt a method to beat good football teams. Drops, penalties, run wrong routes is more or what you would see.

We may be without 3 of our 4 WRs. We couldnt beat GT and Syracuse fully funded, but we are going to beat Iowa State without our WR corp? Dont see it
You are pushing your "team fan" feelings on a real life situation. Trust me, I get it, but this is not NCAA '25. Restrepo has paid his dues and earned his stripes from a fanbase that did not accept him at first. He watched his ex-QB and starting LT go from 1st round picks to possibly never playing at the highest level. He was an all-pro and will be drafted for his skill and intangibles, not his measurables. You would criticize him because he wants to focus on the league instead of the Pop Tart bowl? The man has bailed us out all year. Mind you we could also use this game to assess our WR development for next year.

- person who played competitive sports through the aforementioned period of maturation lol.

respectfully, i already said i understand if he's injured ... but if he's not and theres a game to play and your top five pick qb is playing then you play ... not sure what the name of the bowl has to do with it at this point ... the game itself has meaning to the direction of the program
Yea I guess we will agree to disagree then

"Team Fan"? his higher drafted teammates that have been here for 11 months or less are playing.

The only NCAA 25 take is letting young WRs play, and thinking we can win that way.

Not how the real world of CFB operates. Young inexperience loses.

Isn’t playing. I don’t begrudge him not playing. But the fact that Martinez, ward, barrow, arroyo etc (guys getting drafted of him) are playing and he isn’t, is surprising. Finish the season. Suit up. Enjoy bowl week. Play a half. Restrepo embodies everything we want in a hurricane. Mr Hurricane. Surprised all his boys are gonna play while he sits out.
I find it odd that Ward is playing

respectfully, cam ward has earned a no slander badge ... he's a top 5 pick in the draft and he's playing in the pop tart bowl ... no way around it, X loses some shine if he doesn't suit up
Yea cam has a no slander badge too,I respect both decisions X absolutely loses no shine. He has had one of the greatest careers here, idc about a meaningless bowl game. He has the right to make whatever decision he feels is best for him now

respectfully, the epitome of a cane sits out an opportunity to give the program the most wins in almost a decade, a top ten finish, and the first win in the a bowl game in almost a decade ... that don't sound like the epitome of a cane
I'm not going to change your opinion if that's how you feel, but I'm not judging or defining his career or legacy because he doesn't want to play in a meaningless bowl game when he has bigger and brighter things remaining for him at the next stage (hopefully). The guy has been here 5 years (in a time where that occurrence has become far less common), through the ups and downs, and has been a great Cane on and off the field. He's super involved with the community too.

Whoever said something seems off about him since Duke, that’s crazy.

Outside of the fumble — which I know was bad — he lit up Syracuse. They couldn’t stop him. The fans sitting around me kept saying, “why the **** can’t we stop #7?”

He’ll be remembered for the fumble, unfortunately, but he single handily won us games this year. VT, Cal, Louisville — in all of those games he made plays when we needed it the most. He even bailed out Ward a few times by making insane catches.

I hate that he’s sitting, but he’s earned the right to do what he wants. Cane legend forever.

blu stein is barely functional now. i trust gaby over him.

I agree. Love blue but he generally has non good takes.

As for X, will be interesting to see RRJ out there. This could be make or break for him and possibly spring board him into the spring. If he underperforms/underwhelms tomorrow, he may be a portal candidate.

OP’s point is simply that he found X not playing to be odd/surprising. That is a fair point. Even many of us who feel X has given everything UM could have ever asked of him, and earned the right to choose whether to play, find it surprising that one of the greatest warriors ever to play at UM is missing out on his last game for UM.

Being surprised is not being critical.

Which makes me wonder if there is an injury of which we are not aware.
That part

He shouldn’t be remembered for the fumble but idiots here will mention it all the time. What people need to remember about this year is how the defense ****ed us on a weekly basis in ACC play.

Lol Christ wtf

I'm disappointed he's not playing, that said sadly he'll be remembered for two very, very costly fumbles.

I resemble that remark.
Yea the fumble hurt but what about the d giving up 42 points? What about George being a ******* idiot again and getting another 15 yarder on the final drive? What about Horton dropping a ball in the red zone? What about Miami blowing a 21-0 lead? What about Mario continuing to choke?
