How many elite players are really on this team?

Flowers and Burns?????

Were you guys sleeping through the game? Those two were exceptionally bad yesterday (although the entire line had problems reading whatever bush league scheme their D-line was throwing at us).

I'd say Hurns was an elite talent this year. His footwork and hands were exceptional (even though he had that drop on 3rd down). Really a remarkable season for him.

howard was terrible last year and look at him this year .. i give burns a break .. hes a freshman .. and flowers has played great all year besdies last night

Stacy, Duke, Tracy, Flowers (everyone has bad games, still a future top 10 pick IMO)

Many ppl wanted Deon to play CB here he's look bad in coverage all year.

I'll reserve Judgement on a Burns until next year. This year he didn't make a single play and had many catchable balls throw his way.

I agree with the part on Hurns, I'm just saying in terms of the future

Tough to tell if they'll develop into elite talents. Ryan Moore and Tyrone Moss both looked to be future elites as freshmen. I don't think Tracy is an elite player yet either.

This team still needs to build depth. But that's no excuse to get manhandled the way we did last night when you have a month to prepare for an opponent. I guess we can say UCF is far more talented than Miami considering they went to Louisville and beat the Cardinals in their own home.

Deon has been hurt/recovering from surgery most of the year.

I'll say it again just to clarify, I think the poor performances are due to: lack of elite talent and poor coaching on some ends.

Howard's still not elite. Still getting beat on plays Brandon Harris wouldn't have been beat on. I give Burns a break too, but I'm nowhere near calling him elite. Flowers had struggles throughout the year. Overall I think he's a good left tackle, maybe even a second round draft pick if he stays all 4...but elite? Not yet.

We have enough good players not to get blown out. I think we have good players that look bad because of what we ask them to do. Whether they dont understand their responsibilities or what I dont know but we getting blown out by duke just doesnt make sense no matter how much talent you think we have.

The team has a few studs on it...you'd be hard pressed to find many college football teams that didn't have a few studs on them though, especially at the high end FBS level. This team lacks anything after the few studs though. Its a team of a few studs (most of which are very young and make their fair share of mistakes) and 70 other JAGS. You also have a coaching staff that don't know how to use the talent they do have so it makes the JAGS look worse than they are.

Apparently not. The good players didn't make the plays and the offensive game plan and performance was non existent. We knew going in the D was probably going to struggle, they fought to keep them to 3 FGs, also got a safety and then the next three TD scores were set up on plays against 3 of our more talented DBs.

the offense laid an egg and Morris was who we thought he was

Duke and O'donnell are the two difference makers on the team right now. The only guys that are capable of changing a game with their play. Everone else is just potential, which, as JJ said, is just another way of saying you haven't done anything yet. And Stacy.

I'm well aware that coaching plays a big part in player development and how well these kids do, but the reality is I just don't think this team is as good as advertised BY US, NOT Golden.

When AJ Highsmith and Kacy Rodgers are still prominent players in your secondary, you lack talented depth. Golden and co. have had 3 years to deal with those two and obviously there seems to be little progression made, but the reality is that those guys are just not that good.

I agree and let's be honest about last night - Howard, Burns and Jenkins got burned on key plays leading to the scores. In position to make the play and got beat. Those were not Coach D scheme or development issues, those were the offensive players wanted it more issues.

Golden may or may not be a good coach, but he is not the one hyping up the team. He warned us all year.
So it's ok that we are disgracefully bad as long as the HC tried to dumb down expectations in order to keep heat off himself? The same HC who was talking championships at his hiring press conference 3 long years ago?

Answer this Tito:

How many elite players does Auburn have?
How many did they have last year?

Better question is how many elite players does it take to win the coastal?

How many elite players does DUKE have? How many elite players does VT have?

That's the million dollar question. That is also why so many Cane fans question the current staff esp. Dorito.
