How long do you give a coach to turn it around?

Not sure of the point in debating this as most rational people will probably agree on two things:

A) We need an ACCCG appearance this year or Alfred actually would get the boot....in a lot of other programs.

And

B) This isn't one of those programs and this administration is going to give him at least 2 more years NO MATTER WHAT. Like it or not, he accrued that capital with this AD and Dahhhna.

All that said, I personally haven't had my USF moment with Alfred yet like I did with Corch. Be butthurt about the bowl embarrassment as much as you want too. Talk to me if we end this season against Pitt like Corch ended his career against USF and I'll join your ranks in giving Alfred a vote of no confidence but we still need to realize that he ain't going anywhere (against his will) anytime soon.

This. I'm apopleptic about our defense, but unlike many on here, I see virtually zero chance of Golden getting fired after this season.

Objectively given the sanctions I would give a Coach a 5 to 6 year window to show his worth. However that would assume that said Coach would show competency in recruiting, management and on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Right now, however Golden's performance on the defensive side is indefensible. This year Golden has the roster and depth chart to field a very good defense. Therefore, if I see the same sloppy and ****** performance on the defensive side of the ball I think then that four years is enough to realize it aint gonna get better and to fire Golden. However, I am hoping that does make big strides.

We still signed top 20 classes and we could still signed 25-30 players. Butch not only had the negative press and concerns if we would even have a program, but he had ACTUAL SCHOLARSHIP REDUCTIONS and still turned it into something. Also, in his first 4 years he actually beat some good teams. Golden has yet to beat a team with 8 wins or more.

Yes the sanctions were forthcoming, but his predecessor left for the NFL after 2 national championships, he wasn't fired for under performing. So let's not be surprised Butch could beat a solid team or two, but let's not forget how long it took him to beat FSU or Va Tech.

Butch would have turned this around in 3 years. Golden didn't lose any scholly's till now. **** this cloud bull****. Bottom line is Golden missed on key studs, namely his DT recruiting has been horrendous. Lets not even try and say Golden has a eye for talent like Butch did. Also Golden isn't half the closer that Butch was.

Fair enough, but it's pretty difficult to maintain any kind of success with 30 scholarship reductions. IMO 30 scholarship reductions is like starting over in year 2-3 which is what validates 6 seasons for Butch imo.

I agree. And the administration made the right decision by giving him the time he needed to turn it around, despite fans flying banners calling for him to be fired.
