How in the SAMS **** is VT still a starter here??

I'm no fan of Telemaque, but he doesn't blow coverages, is where he is supposed to be and is consistent. I don't like that he dives at ankles any more than the next guy, but with the defense we run the emphasis is not giving up big plays and he helps with that. over aggressive is a term that will never be used for that guy but it helps the defensive coaches know that they can count on him not to try to do too much.

with that said I'd love someone to beat him out. Would mean they've earned the coaches trust and actually have range and are solid open field tacklers. But also would require Kacy Rodgers to really lock down the other Safety spot since Telemaque probably helps a ton when it comes to getting guys in place in the back 7. Things like that get over looked by us fans but never the coaches (at least until that guy gets hurt and everyone is out of place half the time then we see that player's true value ie: when Glen Cook got hurt).

Funny you mention Ed Reed. No star guy starts as frosh and made plenty of mistakes on bad team.
Still will be shocked if VT starts game 1.

I'd be shocked if he didn't start. And in fact I'd wager that Telemaque will play the most snaps on our defense of anybody not named Perryman if everybody stays healthy. While all of these freshmen make their mistakes and "figure it out," the coaches will want SOMEBODY back there making calls. Who's going to make the checks when everybody is "figuring?" Deon Bush? Kacy Rodgers? McGee? Err, no. People don't understand the value of experience. Not everybody is going to be a world beater but we're not going to roll Brandon McGee and three guys who have never played out there to try to cover somebody. It's not NCAA where Telemaque rates 84 and Bush 79 so hey it's not much different.

I again ask whether there is any evidence ANYWHERE that Telemaque is being challenged? The coaches don't insinuate that they need more from Telemaque like they do the DT's as far as I can tell it. All they tell you is that he's vocal and being a leader and then they don't mention him--just like they don't mention guys like Chickillo and Perryman all the time because these guys are the knowns. The fans always want somebody else rather than an older player who's not some All-American.

PENN- What are you talking about? VT been challenged since last year. Benched twice
At least once the year before that. BTW Ill take that bet. If Golden starts VT
it would be Randyesque.

Clearly, because if the coaches start an experienced player that they think is better they must be playing favorites or something nonsensical along those lines. Now maybe jtkosh will understand my point.
