Cant cover.
Cant tackle.
The film dont lie. He cant play.
Put in a young buck and let them live and learn
Cant be any worse than having VT back there diving at ankles and whiffing completely

On the subject of VT, he's been among the team leaders in tackles the last 3 years. He's not Bennie Blades but he doesn't suck.

VT has been one of the few reliable guys on defense the past 2 years. I expect him to be on the all conference (2nd or 3rd) team this year

VT has been pretty reliable. He lost a few pounds this season to get quicker. I think he'll be a bright spot on defense this year

he had some good licks last year in a few games.....THE ENTIRE TEAM NEEDS TO IMPROVE...

PS Al is working on it,

If folks will stop comparing these guys to Cane Greats, their expectations of them would not be so high, and you would see them for what they are good serviceable players

the guy is solid but not spectacular. IF we had a playmaker at the other S spot, he'd look a helluva lot better. it is just bad that he is our best S

wow! a 4 year starter sucks. VT will have a great year this year due to more reliability out of the db's. i hope the DL can get some pressure so the QB's passes can be a little more rushed and we will see more picks. The problem with VT has been the lack of of players around him. the supporting cast has been really week in this defense.

what truly scares me is if randy had still been coach who would he have signed in al's first recruiting class?? please the NCAA wouldn't have even bothered with sanctions they would have told us have randy as coach was punishment enough. we were instilling our own death penalty.

Sometimes the greatness of our tradition and history hinders our ability to just appreciate solid consistent play.

VT has been just that.

Brothers too slow, that don't have two shats to do with tradition. He ran a 4.85 40 going into his Sr year and he's a safety at Miami, gtfoh.
There's a reason USC slow-played him even though he's from one of their pipeline schools

Another thing to consider about VT is that he's been playing through chronic shoulder problems. He was a lot more reckless as a tackler early in his career.

Four-year starter at UM is not something that many can claim.

As some have pointed out before, I don't think the weight gain did him well. Sometimes players try to beef up a size deficiency and lose the attributes that made them more than a JAG in the first place.

plus the weight he put on probably wasn't the proper weight. since none of the players were eating correctly or being monitored.

As Dmoney and Swag mentioned, VT lost some speed when he bulked up, and has struggled because of it. Whether he has underperformed or not, he's still our best option at S.

VT is one of our top 5 defensive players. A great leader with durability and experience, the kids are not ready, and even if they are, bringing them on at a managable pace is mutually benefitial. Also a victim of sub par players Around him the pass 2 years

VT is a starter for the exact same reasons that Kacy Rodgers is.

It's called a lack of options. They are the winners of the prettiest fat girl contest.

Being a 4 year starter means squat when the team has been average for 4 years.
He is too slow to play. At least be able to lay the wood and be a sure tackler if you cant cover.
VT's tackling has been as bad as any safety at UM the last 30 years.
