Not good enough to beat out Snickers Morris.
Let that sink in.
Sanchez couldn't beat out David Booty, what is your point?

Here's the thing....none of our Sr's last yr were going to loose out on their jobs on either side of the ball. Golden felt like he owed the Sr's something for hanging in here w/ the whole NCAA debacle. Do you really think Cornelius was better than Kirby or Shayon was better than McCord or AQM? Hightower better than Carter or Bush? Of course not...w/ Morris, he came in as a preseason Heisman Candidate. He was supposed to be the "next great" here at UM; couple that with the fact that he was a Sr and there was no way he was losing his job.
Williams could've been lights out in practice and he would not have sniffed the field. We don't need a gun slinger on this team; Morris had all of the abilities in the world, but upstairs he just didn't get it. If Williams provided us w/ 2800 yards passing w/ 20Tds and 3ints, I'm good w/ those numbers. If he provides us w/ a 50% conversion rating on 3rd downs and 80% scoring pct in the redzone, I'm good w/ those numbers. If he keeps the O on the field for 35-38mins of the game, I'm good w/ that. What I don't want to see is 3500yrds, 25TDs w/ 20ints, 36% 3rd conversions, 60% Redzone scoring and our D on the field 35-38mins of the game.

welcome to CIS...well done!!
I refused to believe that Golden were loyal to the seniors because of the NCAA situation... Just about all of the reserves we are clamouring for played but showed little consistency to be starters... Yes Cornelious was better than Kirby at the moment(kid hasn't done anything yet)... AQM and McCord are talented players but they are still raw... You knew what you were getting with both players as far as consistency... That being said, that doesn't mean that this year there wouldn't be a progression... It just means they weren't ready at the moment...
If Golden did what many of you all are asserting then it's an indictment on him as a coach... If you have the opportunity to be better you don't stagnate your organization with favoritism in order to appease a few members because there are more negatives than positives...
Favoritism contradicts the entire premise of competition... If the players feel they are not getting a shot then the morale of the team suffers and division arises... Golden is not promoting favoritism. He played the most "ready" players he had a available.
I don't think Williams is better... I don't think he's this ultimate game manager. I think he's an average qb... He has been here for 4 years and hasn't been mentioned by anyone as the best qb on the team during his tenure. It has all been assumptions and a bit of wishful thinking regarding his performance... That being said, anything can happen this upcoming year... Whatever happened in the past is irrelevant if he balls out this year.. I just don't think Golden was loyal to anyone, I think he played who he felt was more efficient... He found a way to relegate Henderson and he relegated Duke in practice for fumbling... If the back ups were better they would have started... Al's actions totally contradict the popular assessment of our coaching staff by our fanbase... I mean, why didn't Cain get any burn... I mean that did show glimpses of talent at times throughout his tenure... Wheeler wasn't a starter either...

You think Golden is dumb enough to leave his better players on the bench? No coach does that.

UMMM, I guess you're not that die hard of a Cane's fan, b/c if you were, you would know that Golden admitted HIMSELF that he felt like he owed that Sr class something since they had been here since day 1 and they sacrificed to stay here w/ the U. That's the ONLY reason why the upper classmen got the nod. Golden tried to be a fair guy, but now, everyone on this roster are his products. I firmly believe the best players, period will play regardless of class status.
