How good is Ryan Williams?

68.8% completion last season. At this percentage or better, the offense is rolling.

Statue with a noodle arm.

I remember 12 years ago when we had another statue with a noodle arm who wore #11

Man if that's your expectations for Williams, you will be disappointed... That's so unfair to the kid... He doesn't have the supporting cast and if he was Dorsey he would have played this year... Loyalty doesn't keep Dorsey on the bench... I was young when Kenny Kelly was qb but he was such a freak athlete that you took your chances with him due to his big play potential... However, Dorsey skills and intelligence trumped his big play potential... Williams has been here for 3 years and he hasn't been mentioned at all as the best qb, let alone Dorsey...

So unfair to the kid... Why can't he be the next Scot Covington... A solid game manager...

To say he doesn't have the same supporting cast is accurate but quite possibly no QB in CFB will ever have that kind of supporting cast. Williams will have a plethora of weapons at his disposal though. My biggest indictment of Williams has always been his (cement) feet. They were dramatically better last season & he should've played more over an injured Morris. His arm strength also improved because his mechanics improved. Don't sleep on this kid this year. I'm definitely not going to make a Dorsey comparison because Dorsey was crazy smart but I'll let Williams make his win name & show his attributes on the field.

It would be a very difficult challenge for Williams to have as poor a season as Morris had this last year.

Ryan Williams getting extra coaching in 2012, so I am thinking he hired another QB coach over the 2013 summer. It would stand to reason he may hire QB Guru George Whitfield out in Cali.

Not good enough to beat out Snickers Morris.

Let that sink in.

If you've read this thread and that's the only contribution you can make you really should keep it to yourself.

As for Williams, time will tell, but reality is Morris was good at one thing last year and that was the deep ball.
If we have a guy who can hit the underneath and find his outlets that's an upgrade already.

Not good enough to beat out Snickers Morris.

Let that sink in.

Coach Golden--it's unlikely he gave coach Coley the authority--probably decided that, perhaps for the plausible reasons DMoney stated previously. I'm guessing you weren't there to make the determination, yet you believe in Al's infallibility?

Let that sink in.

I'll wait for those who were at the practices to correct me.

How you gleaned I believed in Golden's infallibility from a 10 word poRst is amazing. You're skills at deduction seem infallible. FWIW I'm firmly in the anti-Golden bandwagon

Williams couldn't beat out a gimp-ankled Morris, thats what we know. Meaning people should temper their expectations.

Apologies to board-mother 4canes, I'll forward him my replies before I post them from here on out.

What's goin on with the high-rated Olsen that he's not even being mentioned as a possible candidate for the starting spot?

Thanks for the compliment.

"Williams couldn't beat out a gimp-ankled Morris, that's all we know."

So now I know that you don't believe Al is infallible and my question "I'm guessing you weren't there to make the determination, yet you believe in Al's infallibility?" is answered.

But, since you didn't claim to be at practices, you don't know why either? I'm trying to learn if anyone really knows.

So possible false cause and begging the question logical fallacies aside next season we will find out if Williams plays the QB position better than his predecessor Morris. And if he falters and remains the starter we can all argue about how Olsen, Kaaya, Crow, Lassiter, Hoza, Welsh couldn't beat out Williams.

Happy to help, I'll try to keep you from looking any dumber.

Snickers was 40% on third down with 3 td's and 9 int's.

Ryan Williams CAREER 3rd numbers are 59.6% and 6 td's 5 int's

If Williams just gives us his average we will be magnitudes of order better as a team.

So you don't know and have nothing to add other than hostility? I agree that we should temper our expectations about Williams.

I think it is pretty fair to say that Morris did not have much between the ears. He meant well, he tried to become a leader, etc, but the kid is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

What we need from Williams is someone who can manage the game. The game in its entirety. Feels like we haven't had that in a long time. We have had guys that can manage a couple of plays, much less a series.

Give me someone that understands situations, field position, match ups, etc. Thats all we need to win
