How good is ND projected to be when we play them?

How do you feel about DC hire?
I like him. Only two concerns. Does he adapt to the pace(tempo) of the game if we play wide open next year. If we play more ball control that concern is gone. Past that he's been in and out of jobs quickly. Is that because he's better than everywhere he's been and that's quickly assessed or is it because he's not messing with staff on hand. After having met him, first assessment he seems like what we need. I like what he's saying. Just wanna see him implement it.

If PSU DC opens up it will be interesting to see if Al Golden jumps at that

Or if Freeman leaves do they promote Golden?

Lots of variables for ND in the next couple weeks while I think our team is settled at the moment

ND will be good - their defense will be similar b/c it's Freeman's defense regardless if Golden stays for not. Who knows on offense but their identity will be the same - stout running game with that OL and Love and a game manager for a QB.

The big advantage we'll have is we're breaking in a brand new QB (albeit an experienced one) and an entirely new defense.

I wouldn’t say it’s a sure loss, but they’re definitely the better team as of now
agree, Beck got help last year with guys schemed open. This year he did ok with a terrible OC. If we get guys schemed open we good. You saw the Vikings got figured out by Detroit and LA did the same sh to them and they didnt have enough time to adapt when their whole season they ran the same thing. I dont think they had the time to implement something else so they got bodied. Sam couldn't take over and Cam is a take over type QB where I think Beck is not.

But thankfully we have a good OC

You’re definitely right Cam is a play maker and Beck is more of a game manager, if our run game is strong, and our receivers can get open we’ll be fine, Beck will hit check downs more instead of extending plays like Cam, our OC will definitely have to be more creative with play calling though, even though I have seen Beck make plays with his legs, you’re spot on about the Vikings, but the Vikings couldn’t run the ball that well either…

If Mario isn’t concerned about Miami’s front 7 against ND’s running game then I do not what to tell him. We better upgrade if he wants to fix this defense.

This isn’t going to cut it.

Bruh you really dislike Ahmad Moten, huh lol. He definitely did not seem that bad to me from what I saw. My biggest issue was that dumbass offsided he got what was it in the Syracuse game? Definitely has talent though, and not someone I think it's crazy to expect a pretty decently large jump in snaps from.
Out of Blay, Scott, Moten, Horton, and maybe Jones, I'd expect Bain and Mesidor to play inside a lot especially on pass downs..... Yeah I get that we should add another DT, but I really doubt there will be many great ones in spring, just like there was VERY limited supply in Winter and everyone wants top DTs. Easier said than done to add top DTs in portal imo. Especially top like 320+ lb DTs which is the type of guy we would want most.

At least with Mesidor returning I don't think we need to add EDGE, so I'd agree a bigger NT type DT along with a true 3 down LB 1 are 2 of the top 3 remaining pieces we need to add along with WR1 in spring portal. But Even if we add a DT I'd still expect Moten to get a lot of snaps...

I think WR is the position we have best shot at actually getting someone really good at in Spring portal followed by LB. DT I just wouldn't be confident there are going to be more than like 2 or 3 DTs that are good-high quality available. But hey would be a big time win for Mario to get that type of add done...

Wouldn’t it be something, Freeman to Chicago and Al Golden takes over? Not in my wildest dreams, but just a ponder…

Bears hired a HC. Going to be a great game. Line at -3 is about right. We are a September program so I expect a great game and good outcome.

3 ring binder Golden is a much better asst coach than a HC. Can’t see ND promoting him if Freeman leaves.

Assuming Beck heals like we think he will, we add a stud LB, a serviceable depth piece at RB and Heatherman is who we think (hope) he is, I genuinely like our chances in this game. Hopefully, they have a bunch of kids declare or get portalled out.

At some point, you have to focus on developing the defensive line recruits: Scott, Jones, Blount, Lightfoot, Horton, Bain, and Rudolph.

I’m not as high on Moten as most people. If he doesn’t get pushed out of his starting spot by the talent already on the roster, it signals a serious issue with talent evaluation and development.

Also, it’s time to move Bain to the interior. I don’t understand the politics of keeping him outside, especially if his projected NFL position is on the inside.
