How good is ND projected to be when we play them?

Angeletti is a better QB then Leonard & it doesn't seem to be close.

Leonard is an elite running QB and also very hard to sack. He’s playing for a reason. Angelli is a better passer, but he holds the ball forever and is like Emory in his ability to run. Carr is the future for them.

I’ve seen a few preseason AP way too early projections and Miami came in 8-10 and ND 4-6.

Looks like an obvious college gameday selection. I would guess Josh Pate will be there too. A win, or even a close game, probably looking at the same situation when Florida comes in a few weeks later.

Good way to kick off the season.

Almost guaranteed to be a night game, but I’d be in favor of a 3:30pm kick in the sun with 92% humidity

That would really neutralize their strengths

Was hoping for a day game as well to have the sun blasting their sideline all game long. Labor day weekend, heat index should be over 100 on their side. If that's the case, don't we want noon game instead of 3:30? If 3:30, assuming the second half will be mostly shaded for them?

It’s a young team. On paper, they will be better than this year. Only areas they need to address are QB and DT. Everywhere else, they are young, deep and talented.
QB: That kid Angeli came in for Leonard during the semi-final and looked decent. Just not the runner Leonard is.

Depends on the Portal and coaching turnover.

They could win the championship this year...and be scraping the Top 25 next year if it takes them time to reload coaches and players.

Freeman has been adamant he's not taking a quarterback in the transfer porter but Riley Leonard is gone after this year, so they'll be breaking in a what looks to be a new freshman quarterback while Miami rolls in with Carson Beck—again, a big reason the Canes hit the portal and aren't turning the keys over to Emory Williams (the Gators the fourth game of the season, as well.)

Don't know who carr even is. I'm aware the differences between the other 2. If a team is built right than a QBs job isn't to run. Hence why I said angeletti is a better QB. A QB passes the ball. Haven't seen a lot of him. Only limited moments. I have zero desire to ever watch those piece of **** Irish. When I have it's been more out of interest towards either the moment or the other team or a particular player. Angeletti has looked pretty good in those few moments.

The concern isn't the other team. The concern is that early in the season how blatant will our issues be. Just realistically speaking here. We will be starting basically an entirely new unit of DBS. Two new STARTING safeties, pretty sure Damari will be starting at corner and Zaquan will be one of the safeties. Past that it's gonna be people in one capacity or another with no experience TOGETHER. When you combine that with the fact other than Wes we're gonna have all new linebackers as well. That's a bunch of dudes who need to get on the same page real quick. We need to get on our communication and checks asap. Not to mention the most obvious one being that whole side of the ball is learning a new defense. You also got a factor in Beck isn't gonna have a spring to get his timing down with the receivers and tight ends. Those are my concerns. Not the other team. We will have a few more transfers. I'd say one is announced in the next couple days if not far sooner & than another safety. Offensive side of the ball will be next window for another addition or two.

I don't think Damari will start unless he's the nickel. Patterson might start but it depends on if we get anyone else in the spring portal.

I predict the new staff will make additional changes with the front 7 after spring.

Agree strongly

I don't know, but I've been saying I expect us to beat them.

Freeman is good for a big time loss once or twice a season, and Mario tends to play up/down to the competition.
Who isn’t? Last I checked every “major” coach had a big time loss once or twice this season, at a minimum. The guy can flat out run a program. Right now, he’s miles ahead of Mario on that front.

Meh. I like Freeman but I don’t buy the hype. This ND team had an incredibly easy schedule and path in playoffs.

Seems to me like that ND staff can develop. Year over year they’ve lost solid OLmen and just reload and replace.

This year, their best CB went down. His backup looks like an all American.

College football enquirer podcast was saying to look for freeman to go to the NFL. Might not be after this season, but if he keeps winning it’ll be soon.

Pretty sure they're both starting. But maybe Zaquan if have a lil more give on if he starts or not. Only based on incoming kids & his youth and lil inexperience
