How do we get Bud Foster?

Bud Foster doesn't have a god**** thing over Coach D.

I wouldn't go that far. Foster is really good.

Foster is one of the top 5 best in the biz. Him with miami talent would be scary.

Dno has 2 seasons to get it together or al for the sake of his job better help his best friend get another job at another school..

But it's Al's scheme. Any DC here is going to run Al's scheme.

But if his scheme isn't dominating or at least being a big time strength the head coach needs to realize maybe he needs to lose this I'm the smartest guy in the room idea of his D and bring in a bud foster

Well I hope dno gets it together cause I know if he did he would be here for a long while with al.

But it's hard not to wish for a bud foster down here

This defense was ranked 116th in the nation last year because of the roster not the scheme. They are where they are this year because of the scheme not the roster. Once the roster catches up and we have depth the scheme is going to give opposing offenses nightmares. Quitcherbitchin

We don't yet have that Miami talent you are referring to. We're getting there, but it's not up to speed yet.

Remember, one of our biggest contributors on the DL is a guy who got virtually no playing time at UVA.

I read your stupidity. I've heard it before. Yeah, yeah, yeah... you want coach d to succeed blah, blah, blah. Maybe Golden will change things up and go after _________. The flavor this week is Bud Foster. Maybe Jimmy Johnson will come aboard if Al asks him nicely enough.

Blind faith? Oh the stupidity continues? Please tell me why another scheme would have this defense balling out. I got to hear this. What playmakers on this defense would have Miami stuffing opposing offenses right now? Please show me all this talent and depth that Coach D is keeping from us. Is it Highsmith at Saftey? Or is it Renfrow who just got here from Virginia playing NT?

Miami is two recruiting classes away from being loaded with depth. Right now this coaching staff is overachieving with what they have. It only gets better from here but please tell us all how you're just keeping it real.

Jimmies rustled? You're incapable of rustling a Jimmy. Your cliche BS won't change any of the stupid you've posted in this thread.

Funny thing about VTech and Foster is they used to be a heavy cover 2 man team until they started getting shredded. They started playing more zone in 2003, and they've continued to build on that.

A lot of guys were running cover 2 man back then: Shannon, Stoops brothers at OU, Brian Van Gorder at UGA, etc...

I understand people's frustration. I want a stout defense more than anybody. Even back when everyone was complaining about Patrick Nix (myself included), I was more concerned about our sagging defense.

Bill Walsh always believed that you could scheme a good offense with less than ideal talent, but defensively you needed the horses. I think that's a bit of an oversimplification, but in general I agree that it's more important to have standout talent in order to field top-tier defenses. Creative guys like Mike Leach and Chip Kelly can come up with ways to score 40 without a slew of blue chip guys, but it's much harder to do that on defense.

For me, I don't have to look much further than the 2009, 2010, and 2011 recruiting classes. Those are our upperclassmen. They're supposed to be the bedrock of the defense. There just isn't a ton of talent there.

Shannon's recruiting fell off a cliff on the defensive side of the ball. The 2009 and 2010 classes weren't very good to begin with, but the high rate of attrition compounded the problem. The 2011 class was a complete mess. We had ONE guy committed when Golden took over, and not even that mean Miami leans. And the dead period started soon after Golden was hired. Anyone who follows recruiting knows that you don't put a class together in one month. It's a multi-year process. We already have 2015 and 2016 kids committed.

The 2012 class is the first full class. From that class (Redshirt Freshmen, true Sophomores, and one JUCO) we pulled our best pass rusher, and our ENTIRE starting secondary. The 2013 class has impact players in it, too. The 2014 class looks even better.

Indulge me as a take a glimpse into the future. This is of course ALL speculation, but who cares? I bolded the 4 and 5-star guys (projected guys as well).

We're another recruiting cycle or two away.

Foster's style of defense is perfect for young elite athletes the problem is it doesnt help them in the NFL when all they have been taught to do is free style all game but it gets much faster results at the college level.

He's a Hokie, **** him.
