Who will be our starting safety for the season. Is Highsmith gonna surprise people and take the spot, or does Deon Bush take the hype by the horns and start?

Thoughts??

I think Kacy Rodgers keeps The seat warm for Bush or another freshman/ future recruit. That awful play against FSU last year doesnt inspire much confidence.

I see Highsmith being that 3rd safety... the added muscles and lack of expierence tell me he looks better as an 8th man in the box type.

I hope I'm wrong on this, but none of our current safeties have the look of a playmaker.

Rodgers unless he show repeats of the FSU game, then Bush...wouldn't be suprised to see Gunter get a look if Highsmith and Rodgers don't produce

Rogers had a really bad play against FSU and cost us the game. But that is what happens to young players. They don't all come in and take over immediately. I seem to recall some guy named Reed being late on a safety help and costing us the Penn State game one year.

Im not gonna lie. I **** on Kacey Rodgers a lot but..........he only had that one boneheaded play vs FSU. Had he made that play, his entire season would've been ok considering it was his first season. Nobody else on the team made plays so we really shouldn't **** on him for that one play. If he made it he would be Kirby Freeman hero status vs FSU

Kid is fast and rangy. Can't be any worse than osrry *** Ray Ray

Come on it was a bad play but it was one play... He actually played a good game... Yea he choked on that play but that happens to everyone, just like when wideouts drop wide open td passes... Rogers is talented, he just cant choke like he did before... I have seen some of the great ball players make mistakes you cant get hung up on that...

There were a number of things that cost us against FSU it wasnt just that play... Everyone had an off game on the team, everyone coaches and players... That being said, you're right he was young and actually had a good game with the exception of that play...

All I can say is that at least Rogers read the play correctly and was in position.....thats a big step up from what we've seen the last few years....now just need to teach the boy to finish strong and be aggressive.

I'm not saying I think he is terrible... that play is just what sticks out in my mind and the fact that I can't recall any great play he was part of last seaon.

I said it before, I hope I'm wrong about him. I just haven't seen anything to get excited about him or that tells me he going to be a star safety. He will now have the chance to prove me wrong and I hope he does.

I understand what you're saying, I just think you're overreacting a bit... Which is understandable, but lets be honest if he wasnt in on that play you would not have known whether or not if he played... I think he did a lot of things right, but choked on that one play... He can be a starter he was a good player coming in the 2010 class and saw early burn as a true freshman... He just cant choke...

Agreed on him being there for the play... but, guys like Glenn Cook were killed by this fanbase for being there to make a play and not coming through.

I'm not trying to compare the two of them, just saying that excuse becomes invalid if plays like that happen with him on the regular.

Not overreacting as much as probably more pessimistic... I am aware of him playing during the season and in that game, I do know our players and watch the games closely I just haven't seen a difference maker yet is all... again, I HOPE HE PROVES ME WRONG.

Come on man Glenn Cook was just a terrible specimen of a football player.

He refused to lift weights and get faster. He was ALWAYS going to miss on a play

Wasn't comparing the two, again... just saying he was that guy on the field that played alot because he knew where to be at all times... thats was what I was comparing while responding to the other poster about Rodgets during that play at the FSU game is all... Cook was awful, I know this.
