Head Coach Candidates

Don't think it'd be an issue to have Jack McClinton on the staff as a GA or DOBO. Those are usually the spots for guys looking to break in to the college basketball coaching world. I think the 3 top assistant coaching spots on staff should go to people with experience and/or with connections to elite players. Something I don't think Jack has at this point.

He's a Baltimore native and if he still has connections there, he could be useful. Bmore being a premier urban hoops hotbed. Can GAs recruit?

Officially, GA's are allowed to go on the road and actively recruit, but more times than not it's left up to the HC what roles a particular GA would fill. Usually, off campus recruiting is left to the HC and his first three assistants. Roles for GA's vary, but it's likely they're relegated to mostly on campus duties, such as, working out players, breaking down film, scouting, etc. When it comes to recruiting they're usually asked to stay in house and help with on campus visits and to stay in contact with their people and recruit kids they have ins with.

Jai Lucas, Duke Associate HC and Recruiting Coordinator would be at the top of my list. Has worked for Rick Barnes, Shaka Smart and was Calipari's recruiting coordinator at Kentucky. Lead recruiter for the Boozers. At 36, is primed for his first HC role.

Don't hate it, but prefer somebody with HC experience
Agree, 1,000%!!! Miami isn't serious about basketball if it hires a lifelong assistant with no head coaching experience to be their next head coach. Like c'mon!! I know we're all speculating on who the next HC will be, but at the very least let's try to be somewhat realistic with the names being thrown around. At the rate we're going, it's only a matter of time before some of y'all start throwing out high school coaches as possible candidates. GO CANES!!!
