Has your "fanhood" been thouroughly tested?

The mid 90's were rough after the NCAA mess.

80's-early 90's was heaven.

This last decade has been the worst because of the coaching hires. The Canes team has never really looked competent since halftime of the OSU NC game.

Edit: Fan since the late 70's. Never wavered. Never questioned my loyalties. Never blinked. (did wipe a tear after the OSU loss though.)

I'm still a huge fan, but the older I get the less important CFB and sports are.

That's interesting because for me it is the exact opposite. The older I get the more I care about college football and the Canes.

I do find my interest in other sports waning though. Especially men playing women's games like basketball and baseball.

Oh, I remember Selmer. I remember he was fired because we sucked, PLUS, one stated concern was that all our "Blue Chippers" were leaving the area and going elsewhere. (Kind of sounds like what we have now) Then I remember him being replaced by Lou Saban. We had gone through coaches like crap through a goose.

And yes, I remember the hire of Schnellenberger. All these young ******s who want me to be more positive about our program can pretty much kiss my a$$. They don't have a damned clue as to what crap me as a fan have been through.

I've seen 2-8 seasons, and I've seen each of our National Championship seasons. I've seen ****-poor coaches, and I've seen some good ones.

What we got now is a nice guy. But he's not up to the job here.

You call basketball and baseball "women's games" but as you've aged your interest in watching sweaty muscular teenagers and young 20 somethings in tights jumping on top each other has increased.

My fanhood has been tested a couple of times with the 7-6 teams, but I always found my way back to the promise land a day or two later. It's especially hard being a Miami fan deep in the heart of SEC country (Louisianan), they have been ragging on my team for about 8 years now. The UF game made it all worth wild though, that was the height of my Miami happiness over the past few years.

I'm a Raiders fan..... Imagine how great I felt at the end of the 02 season in both NFL and college.

If you ever consider retiring your fanhood because of the team's poor performance, then you ain't a 'Canes fat at all.

12 years old when i walked into the living room and seen a group of guys walking off a plane wearing camouflage. Never studied football much up until then. Except when it came to meeting my friends out in the lot for some tackle football. That moment caught my eyes, because college football was so plain.

It's been rough and i could easily jump sides to Bama our Auburn. They are almost the same distance in miles from my house, but i can't see it. Too much time and money invested. Too much enjoyment and tradition that fits me.

Thanks for posting this Dingane! I'm 31 years in and have seen us at our best and what some baby Canes might consider our worst. I certainly am disappointed that we have sputtered for almost a decade, but my love of the Canes is utterly undiminished. I still have to watch games by myself, and I still need to be left alone for a serious cooling off period (24 hours is the average) if we get beat. I'm here until the stars burn out.

I've been a Canes fan since the around 87, wouldn't trade that 20 year run with any other school. All those championships , title game appearances, great players and memories.

I don't mind some down years, we'll probably never dominate at that level again but i believe there'll be more titles in our future.

The mere thought of jumping sides is of caneconcen:diaf:

I Love All The Miami Programs from Football to Tennis, my fan hood will never change. But the last 10 years have hurt

My fandom was set at about 5 years old. Hasn't changed. Would be surprised if it ever did. My enthusiasm sure as **** has been tested, though.
