This. Finally someone else sees it. It doesn't matter who coaches the defense, as long as Mario has complete autonomy over the team, we are going nowhere. He is incompetent at player evaluations, hiring coaches, and gameday preparation and management. I don't think anyone will truly understand the greatness of Cam Ward until years from now. He masked the incompetence of Cristobal.

The most hilarious part of yesterday was the defense coming out with 10 men after the timeout and Barrow rushing in there at the last second.

Too much time spent practicing tuff and fizikal and not enough time spent practicing smart and discipline

aside from our QB, how come our offense can be next man up yet our defense is no man up?

I feel like I saw more young guys on defense all year than offense. Caliber of player is a drop off

Pretty evident Mario can’t evaluate defense when recruiting. He tries to do it himself with all of the coaching turnover and it doesn’t work.

thats why he's looking for a former HC to be the DC. Yesterday all guys who barely played on offense came in and were fine. look at our recruiting class we just signed, offensively it was very good.

Problem on defense is kids who's dad's know the sport won't let them play for guidry. Yeah our players might not be up to par as offensive but every single pre snap the kids looked confused, it's like they are playing without a coach. How does no one improve?

It’s a Miami/Mario problem

Nicholson and Louisville pumped out good LB after good LB. Their backup came to Miami and played more in 1 year than he played cumulative at Louisville.

Chevis brought 2 NFL corners to Kansas and had both playing at a high level at a young age. The Marshall secondary was one of the best graded secondaries ever at the G5 level.

Guidry has had well coached and good safety play everywhere he’s ever been. See above about Marshall. Multiple NFL players in a G5 secondary. Multiple others that went to top 25 programs.

My guess is too much time looking at measurables and taking projections to the bank instead of IQ and production. We’re stupid on the field in ways that should never have to be coached at the college level. And we’re slow. We might be slow because we’re stupid but either way, both is a terrible combination. I see smart defenses that are slow do just fine. Never seen a fast defense that was stupid be effective. See Miami, LSU, Louisville, etc

Guidry coached one year at Marshall. Clearly something is off. Kam regressed under him and now looks better in NFL.

Look I dont know if we are that slow or its overthinking and confusion but clearly Guidry is struggling at this level. we were playing CJ Clark at De, did you see how slow he was getting off? He plays Marley cook alot. his personnel issues are bad.
I dont think he has the best talent, but to give up the points we do to the teams we do is unacceptable.
Also, last year, every time he played against a strong OC, he got exposed.

2 years at Marshall but point taken. I don’t know who to blame for the personnel usage. Head scratching for me at times

he seems like Manny. comes in has a decent year with other guys players and then it goes down hill plus he doesnt like to recruit.
I think he is to blame for personnel. He's stubborn and ****y. There is a reason Mario wants a former HC at DC. he sees letting Dawson to his thing on offense has worked. He just wants to be a CEO and recruit. He knows his limitations. I'm not defending Mario but there is a reason most of the assistants dont get along with lance.

The more I think about the HC we’ve all talked about, even though he hasn’t been a DC before, he’s one of the best pure “Head Coaches” in college football before his issue. Might be good to have with Mario and re-evaluate some of the offseason, off field, and general management type stuff.

I just can't get passed hiring a DC who has never been a DC before even if they've been a HC
