Golden's Ego

Remember when Randy Shannon fired Tim Walton after one season as DC when our defense was ranked 33rd with a 52nd ranked scoring defense?

Knowing Shannon, he accidentally checked the "Fire" box on his evaluation instead of "Retain" and was like "Oh wellz. Da gords have spoken. Time to play Snake."

Golden was on Sirius today and said he spends most of his time working with the offense and special teams.

Shannon had very high standards. Remember the time he quit recruiting entirely at the end of his stint?

7 plays and 73 yards a game is the difference from last years D being what it was vs top 40 based on last years #'s.

Yes I do remember that.

With that said, for all of his faults, he didn't tolerate a defense that was actually better than anything Golden/Doritos have done thus far at Miami.

As crazy as it is for me to even think this out loud, Shannon would do well with the current talent on this defense, I wouldn't let him recruit, but I feel the defense would be dramatically improved.

Maybe the D would be better, but Shannon would find a way to **** up the offensive talent.

I tend to agree with this. Grace would be an animal in Randall's scheme.

Let's start with preventing every offense we face from having their best day statistically

Makes sense. He wasn't really trying before. But now that people are badmouthing his defense, he's ****ed and he's gonna really coach now.

How, he would be the defensive coordinator, we had tons of talent on offense when he was DC here.

I was taking it as him being the Head CoRch again. Not the Defensive CooRdinator.

Pains me to say it, but with our current crop of defensive talent, Randy would field a badass defense.

During his time our run d was getting gashed, but our pass D and pass efficiency D was very good. Guys like B Hariss and Hill were coached up very well. Wesley McGriff was a good DB coach.
