Golden talks recruiting

Looked up his numbers, a true #1 (atleast to me) shows up in the big games. He is a guy you can go to regardless of competition.

Many consider Sammy Watkins a #1WR to say the least...

FSU 6 for 24

Furman 4 for 52

GT 6 for 42

SC 4 for 37

1 TD over those 4 games

Total for 2012 (He missed 3 games)
57 for 708 (12.4 YPC) and 3TD

Again who gives a **** what the fans consider him, just catch the ball and put up numbers.

Sammy essentially played the role of #2 this year because he was suspended to begin the year and Hopkins took the opportunity and RAN with it. Either way agreed 100% with catch the ball and put up numbers, especially when you are wide open for TDs

In addition to Shannon's horrendous roster management, we did not have a legitimate D1 nutrition and strength program. Our program was likely in worse shape than temple's when golden walked into this mess.

He's done everything incredibly well under very, very tough circumstances. Let's all hope he stays for the long hall, bc Kirby at least did one thing right, and found an absolute gem.

I don't consider Sammy a #1 receiver. He's not as good a receiver as Amari, Marqise Lee, and company.

I didn't say the best WR, I think it pretty accepted that Sammy is an elite talent and a true #1WR.

Sammy Watkins isn't a #1 receiver?????

Agree with Flip and JHall on PD. If he's a #1, he hasn't shown it yet.

I don't see enough YAC production from PD to truly consider him a #1, in addition to the reasons already mentioned.

A few things on Dorsett (to the board)

1. Before the season he was considered a so-so player.

2. The kid was a true sophomore this year.

3. He had some mental mishaps this year but still managed to get almost 850 receiving yards.

4. He burnt DBs all season.

5. This kid is a tremendous worker and will get these mental mishaps fixed.

I like our chances this year with this kid, he can fix the mental lapses and he will still burn DBs. Personally I don't care if Miami fans consider him a #1 or #6, we need his production and he is a big part of the offense.

Agree with your sentiments except for #1. I didn't consider him a so-so player coming off his freshmans season. Looked to me like he had the potential to be great, and I still feel that way. He choked on the big stage against ND as a true sophomore, but Santana choked against FSU as a young player prior to becoming a big-time clutch guy for us as he gained experience.

He disappeared against FSU, KSU, ND, UNC in the big games. That's the one thing that he needs to improve on to take that final step to being one of the tops in the conference and possibly the country.

So essentially had 850 Receiving Yards in 8 other games, not bad for a kid.

He had some big mental lapses against ND. I wouldn't be surprised if he put up similar numbers next year in total because of the increased production from Scott, Lewis and Waters etc.

I tell you what man, adding Sandland should really help out a guy like PD. He is a solid deep threat but he should do damage underneath. He is a tough kid and could be deadly if he gets safeties and LBs on him.

Basically I was a little worried about our WR's going into last year but this year, its an obvious strength. It says a lot of our recruiting, our former WR coach, and the OC/QB.

Don't sleep on Ray either. He's back with the team for Spring and he had a good year before his suspension

But Nights has stated repeatedly that organizational and management skills aren't necessary to field a championship level squad.

Lu is going to have some serious issues with this post.

I know you didn't. This board and other boards did. I remember the morons stating that this kid was so-so because he wasn't "Santana." Santana was a beast, he was a first round pick and an utter stud. Very few people are Santana but that didn't stop the boards from putting down (at the time) the true freshman.

Santana played on a lot of bad teams and still has about 10,000 Rec Yards, very few will be Santana.

PD did choke on the big stage and could have helped us change that game against ND, but that was mental. I think this kid PD will continue to be great for us and I don't care if our fans think he is a true #1.

Great stuff problem! And as for the WRs look out for Lockhart next season. Staff thinks he has the goods.
