Couple notes

On QB battle
- players have the final say
- 5 pratices remaining the next 3 days will determine starter
- both have big arms, Jake experience, Brad exception command of offense, game
- skill players helps QBs
- been running full offense since may (both QBs running full offense)

improvement since spring
- OL play has improved, still a little concern about depth
- marked improvement in tackling especially in secondary

true freshman in the mix
- chad thomas makes us a better football team (leader, tough)
- courtel jenkins- good surprise at camp
- darron owens has been solid
- berrios has stepped up

wyche/ hertelou
- good competition
- golden pleased with development of DT position

on Louisville
- they are different team (wont watch bowl game)
- feels like we are a different team
- opening games are difficult (variable on both side of bowl)
- the whole offense will be on display

on redshirting
- get freshmen physical/mental ready
- give them opportunity to compete
- ultimately redshirting sorts itself out

on the QB position
- "i know we have a QB, dont know who it is"

Jake Heaps on not participating scrimmage
- medically concern about him
- "wouldn't say he is 100%, but he is ready to go"

Decision on starting QB
- wont commit to a timetable to announce starting QB

I would think we'd want to announce a starting QB slightly earlier so that one QB can really focus on the Louisville gameplan. I guess it's not too different than what they've been camp.
 
Good summary... Now I don't have to go to wqam.com and listen. ;-)

Interesting Heaps has a health issue and we can't tell just how bad it is, but he's in a heated QB competition with Kaaya and will have to play through it.

I think the most interesting part of this convo is where he says kaaya has command of the offense, i believe that was the knock golden had on him before not being vocal enough.

Kayaa will just take the spot after Heaps $hits himself in the first half vs UL
 
how can Heaps have the experience but not the exceptional control of the offense?

and if this is true, what good is experience?

If that were true, why would he not just announce that Heaps is the starter? It looks more like he simply doesn't want to eliminate one guy until he has too.

Our fans tend to way over-think stuff.

IMO, I think This all hinges on Ryan Williams Returning by Nebraska or Duke.. They obviously WANT Heaps so they don't burn Kaaya's redshirt.

Ryan Williams is GONNA Play ... So the Question is .. Do you Burn Kaaya RS for 3 games or Have Heaps hold the Fort until RW comes back?.....

I'm pretty sure Golden is banking on the Latter.

Because if Kaaya Plays... Then you let him play ALL Year... No Turning back...
