Golden on the offensive line

McDermott struggled with Easley, but it didnt matter where we tried to run for the majority of the game. Duke deserves better than to be hit 2 yds in the backfield every running play

The Offensive Line knows who to block, they just aren't getting a push at the point of attack And...they aren't creating any running lanes, unless they pull a guard (Feliciano specifically)...

....Problem is with some of our guys, the quickness just isnt there. Our best line may have involved Isadora and Feliciano at guard, and possibly getting Linder some reps at Tackle or even Center, because McDermott sucks.

Lastly, it isn't just the offensive line. Walford continues to struggle at blocking, and I even saw # 82 get tossed out of the way a few times.

The best thing that could have happend vs UF were the scores at the beggining of the game, and we were fortunate to have the turnovers. The football gods were with us.

This offense is still trying to get it together, mostly because the lack of synergy in the blocking schemes.

This OL is going on its second year of being dreadful at blowing guys off the LOS. The DL beefed up and is holding it down, so I can't hate Swasey (for once). Fisch had trouble against good teams getting them to generate anything resembling a push, and so does Coley.

That leaves one man. One son of a *****in man..

Ideally for that game Linder would be your center & Bunche wouldn't suck at OG. McDermott is just too small/weak for a beast like Easley.

There were a few series in a row where UF's DL turned our interior linemen into weapons, picking them up by their pads, and using them as battering rams as they charged unabated towards Duke.

So a bunch of new(productive) bodies at DT and Jethro is a forgotten target. But we keep trotting out the same group of OL and expect different results?

Maybe they just aren't as good as they were hyped.

Would rep again if I could......
People are stunned and rationalize but the answer is simple and right in front of everyone.

I rewatched the game 2x. There were a ****load of missed assignments from the OL, TE, and WR. They don't know who to block. Essentially every play for a loss included a player either blocking the wrong person or missing a block on a bad angle because they didn't know where to go.

If Waters makes that block that he completely messed up getting into position for, Duke is off to the races.....

What do you mean by "as good as they were hyped?" The players?

We have a winner.

BINGO.

I said it before the season when we were hearing about morris. We heard everything we wanted to hear from a offseason in regards to improvements. Nutrition program, Guys getting bigger, Senior guys coming on Dline and punter, Morris working on some of his flaws, etc. I mentioned in a thread I didnt hear from anybody, not Golden, not Kehoe, not a oline player that we needed to be better running the ball. There was no emphasis, I am not saying that to say anything bad about the coach, just that maybe we had sooo many other issues that maybe this was overlooked. Before you can fix something it has to be acknowledged. Seems it is on the agenda now, wonder how it will play out moving forward

We had two wr miss the same guy. Lewis was further downfield and completely whiffed on the block. Then Waters missed as well. I give waters more of a pass though because he wasn't straight in front of the guy, kind of had to lunge to the side. Lewis though.....he really f'd up that play.

It's possible but not likely that we will ever have a more talented top 6 OL at Miami than we do this year. If we can't excel there with both the run game and pass pro then yikes.

Maybe it has to do with them being PUSSIES! They did well the first quarter then got intimidated for the rest of the game. They kept letting the DL talk **** and take cheap shots at Duke without any repercussions. The only player on offense i saw getting in the face of the DL and LBs was Duke. Our OL is suppose to fight those fights for him and protect him. I dont give a **** if we get penalized but we need to man up and start some **** when necessary.

Crazy but our greatly criticized DL played big boy football and our heralded OL played like lil ****es

I never got why some fans think that are Oline is hearalded. I haven't seen a good oline from us for years.

I'm with this guy. Are all of you saying there aren't at least 4 NFL players in that rotation?

I just don't think anyone on the OL is especially good at run blocking. Linder can win a battle with anyone but it takes more than one guy to create holes for Duke to run through.

correct on the play where waters whiffed. seal off the outside and it's a big gain for duke. I think the group is talented and yes, 3 or 4 of these guys should be playing on sundays. I think that was the best dline we will see all year.
