Golden OL recruits

It’s just crazy how Al Golden could recruit NFL level talent but not able to coach them up. This guys really had an eye for talent.

At certain positions only. Stubborness definitely killed him here, he would find a diamond in the rough with his specs and then not offer the obvious local stud because they didn't fit the specs perfectly

That was my second biggest issue with Al. He could find and recruit talent. But he was just like Butch Jones. Rarely did a player ever get any better than the day they showed up on campus. He had 10 win and conference championship level recruiting with high school level coaching hires and player development.

Marrying himself to Dorito ruined him. If he had committed to changing the defense he might have produced a halfway decent team but he was too **** stubborn.
So I heard Shannon’s dedication to Jacory Harris got him fired. Al Golden’s dedication to D’Noforio got him fired. Mark Richt dedication to his son Jon got him to step down. So what will be Manny’s issue

There's a lot of truth to this post. Our coaches' downfalls have been the result of being overly attached to staff members who clearly were not holding up their end of the bargain. We haven't had a head coach that was willing to cut bait on anybody since Coker did so as a last ditch effort to save his own job. Manny has certainly filled out (at least on defense) his staff with friends and former colleagues. It's not uncommon for head coaches to do this. However, will he be willing to move on from a friend if his unit is not up to par? We'll have to find out. The good news is, he doesn't seem to have any attachment to any offensive coaches so the ax might be quicker to drop on that side of the ball.

He recruited nfl talent everywhere on the roster tbh, even on the dline. If he had a better dc Golden wouldn’t have been that bad as he had the offensive side of the ball somewhat competent but you couldn’t win with donofrio. Liked some of his hires at coaches too including fisch, George McDonald, terry richardson, Hurlie brown, kehoe, barrow, coley etc.

Olsen Pierre has been in the NFL how long? lol
dude put a ton of players in NFL, married himself to Coach D and a **** s&c concept.
Pierre just signed a contact with the giants and outperformed Robert nkemdiche former first round pick when he was there. In one of the seasons he had a 5 or 6 sack season as a Dt
