Golden calling into QAM Now

At this point the time for talking is over. We will see on Monday whether there has been improvement. Of course Louisville having a new coach makes a difference, but other than that, you couldn't have a better barometer than comparing the team's performance this week to the bowl game last year. We shall see how much a difference another year of experience, another year with coach D's system, better talent, and recouping from last year's injuries makes.

I thought during an interview it was exactly the time for talking.

Having all-time greats all over the field is the expectation and Big O is an idiot if he thinks otherwise.

Yes, and it doesn't happen overnight, especially after years of being mediocre, and having NCAA uncertainty hanging over the program. Notice how recruiting has dramatically changed this year.

Golden asked if Kaaya has been a facilitator: “He’s been beyond that." Said he's "moved from a manager to an attacker."

COME ON NOW, SON.

Big O acts like because he covers the draft he knows so much more than everyone else. he just say Olivier Veron didn't do anything when he was here. I recall him actually playing pretty well and wishing he would have played his last year here.

I felt the same way. Vernon was great as a soph and knew he was leaving after his jr season. I felt like he played not to get hurt that entire year, along with several other guys we had on the team that knew they were leaving. Especially since we knew we weren't going bowling or playing for the coastal.

Vernon played well and showed flashes, but when he left he was still more potential than actual production. That's why I would have loved to have seen him stay and develop for one more year while helping the team.

Canes1135 you're an idiot. He was not the deflecting the question he was reclassifying his relationship with his defensive coordinator if you don't understand the difference then I can't help you.

I dont recall Olivier Vernon playing to his potential here. He played well at times, when he was eligible to, and left as early as he could. Let's not overrate what he did here because we are starved for talent. Plus keep in mind in terms of elite talent, one offs don't shape the entire defense most of the time. When we were elite, we had players at almost every position on the D that played as well as or better than Vernon played when here. Many a lot better.

The expectation should be to have elite players all over the field. The unfortunate realization is that we have not had that in a LONG time.

The interview was solid. Excuse me if I don't lose any sleep that Alfred doesn't get eviscerated by the local media during acutal interviews so that some of you might get a little tingling in your pants as you somehow feel validated. We get some of the worst overall treatment in ALL of college sports by not only the national media but by the majority of the local clowns so Golden not getting totally taken to the woodshed by O here is of no concern to me as it would be of no concern to the powers to be in the Gables that control coaching decisions.

wow this guy is not scared of golden

Big O has always been known for not shying away from asking the tough questions.

He's a good interviewer.

Glad he's back on WQAM.

Who to believe?

IMHO, they've been very kind to Golden and company so I'm going to respectfully disagree with this. When we were on top with Coker, the media reported kind as can be. Bring in Shannon, same thing until it went south, and they were still pretty nice. Golden, rinse and repeat. Perhaps if any of those three coaches won more, there wouldn't be as much criticism. Anything that came their way, they deserved.

That was kind of my point. So what if the media does or does not give Golden a hard time when the program as a whole typically gets mistreated by both local and national media- especially in the context of college football whereas most local media is completely in the tank for their local programs. Then again I guess there are mopes out there that were actually hoping that Golden got exposed for the fraud or incompetent they believe he is a mere 5 days before the season starts. At least then they could have shaken their fist at their computer screen in victory as they listened.

I'd have to respectfully disagree if you were implying that the program as a whole has ever been coddled or done any favors by the local media though.

Morris had more to do with ruining the defense than anyone. they were great early on. then we were at the bottom of FBS in time of possession and our lack of depth got exposed

Not an idiot. He beat around the issue that they were having on defense and just gave the fact that they jumped to a low defense at Virgina and Temple which was underlying for 'why not at miami now'. He never addressed that they were horrendous on defense the past years. He gave an answer to the 'friend question' but never went into the 'defending' part of the question. Why don't you read in between the lines before you start calling people names. Later on in the interview he did touch on that they just have to start showing it on the field, etc.... As I was typing this as I listened live, I did not include that part. And btw I'm a Golden supporter. So why don't you chill out.

You don't think the competition had something to do with the defense early on? Check those teams records and then look at their offensive rankings, you'll see a trend. Morris can be blamed for a lot, but not our defensive woes.

You can't be serious with this garbage. Having Joe Montana back there wouldn't have changed that abomination referred to as a defense.

The excuse making on this board is reaching all time highs.

So an undermanned defense playing more minutes than necessary isn't a factor in performance?

Okay.
