Gerald Willis

The DL has enough depth that they should be able to get by without him, but losing Jenkins hurts that much more now. Good thing is we have so many DE's we'll probably have plenty of situations where we want to get 3 or even 4 of those guys rushing at the same time shifting speed inside like they do in the NFL.

Lost our second string DTs this offseason. Big loss

Hopefully every Rick offseason doesn't feature this attrition of talented kids.

...and fall camp has not even started yet. I am curious to see how many players will be out the first couple of games.

Why do u keep mentioning his age? He isn't that old. He came out of hs like everyone else and like everyone else has 5 years to play 4. Stop w the age thing.

There are very few personal circumstances, family or not, that go on in a college players life that causes him to sit out a year. Players have the death of a parent and miss a week or so. Not much could be going on "personal" that he needs to sit a whole season to deal with. Way more to it than that. Stop it.

You know the difference between a good teym and a great team? It's called depth, Einstein.

We are suddenly thin at DTackle after the losses of Courtel Jenkins and Gerald Willis. RB Position took a hit by the losses of Gus Edwards and Joe Yearby as well. This could easily make a difference in the win and loss columns this year.

We aren't thin at dt, stop with that nonsense

Norton
Mcintosh
Moten
Bethel
Ford
You know how many teams would love to have that at dt

After norton and mcintosh all i see is names. Depth isnt bodies but guys that can actually contribute.

I hate to lose a kid with ability like Willis but let's take another look at this. You say all you see are names after Norton and McIntosh but what exactly are we being tasked to replace in terms of production from Willis? 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks? I get that he is capable of more but it's not like we are replacing Jerome Brown here.

I also believe that Pat Bethel is going to shock people as he can play. Anthony Moten seems to me to be the perfect example of a talented kid who struggled to put it together for his first 4 years only to put it all together as a mature 5th year senior. That top 4 at DT assuming that Bethel is among it doesn't exactly suck of you ask me.

Moten isnt a 5th year senior.

I stand corrected. He is a true senior. For some reason I thought he had redshirted.

we dont need to have patience for kids like this, get him out of here and lets move on to someone that actually wants to play football

If he wants to come back next year I'm all for it. He can contribute. Plus we have no idea what's going on. It could be a family situation, it could be some mental illness. We have no idea. If Richt still thinks he deserves to be a part of "the UM family" as he stated, then I'm trusting his judgment.

we dont know whats going on but his history doesnt help when we are trying to figure it out... yes, hes is a very talented player but i have never felt his head was in the game 100%

Moten now steps into the 3rd DT spot and Bethel becomes an important piece of the 2 deep. Just like that. Ford better be ready to work and play some this fall or we will need to look at sliding someone inside.

Scary as ****, and why I found it odd so many people were so "ok" with Courtel's situation.

UM

Thought Courtell was a solid 1tech dude was becoming very disruptive.

How was he becoming very disruptive when he wasnt even playing like that? Dude made that 1 play in the bowl game.

He's a one technique. Making plays isn't really what you judge them on. Is he taking on double teams and not losing any ground? Is he collapsing the pocket?

By the end of the season he looked like a big , disruptive DT and his loss sucks.

We went into the season 2 1/2 deep with talented DTs and came out of it with a depth problem

Thank you! he's not getting blown off the ball letting the 3 tech go 1 on 1 all game by occupying 2 blockers its pretty pivotal. He just isn't to get a ton of sacks its to beat the center and guard up all game making sure they cant get up to backers!

Let's not speculate on what we think it is. Richt has a quick trigger, Willis has already been in trouble so it must be a legit reason for Richt to say he's still part of the family.

Just looking at the track record and history, reading the Ginseng leaves I find it hard to believe Willis will ever play another down of football for Miami

I hope Im wrong....

Sucks, but this isn't a bold prediction. I hope Bethel's a player

Willis remains on the updated roster. They've been quick to remove the names of the dozens of other people who they've ushered out of the program, so there's some hope.

We may not have enough depth for 10 regular season wins imo.

Not impossible but I wouldn't bet on it.

We have more depth than last year and won 9 games with 3 losses being by 7 points, 3 points, 1 point....

Man, your like a one trick pony for sure.

Here we go....what happens in ONE SEASON does not translate to every season...much like recruiting classes.

Your argument really doesn't hold up anyway because we had Willis and Jenkins to some degree last year, now they will play 0 snaps.

While we may be fine at DT still, we have left very little wiggle room in the God forbid injury department. I assure you, Fines and Bethel are not big time ready yet. Willis and Jenkins in fact had the snaps.

UM

He's coming back for the spring 2018 semester imo

Willis is literally living the sweet life in southern California's beautiful San Fernando valley.

Instead of playing behind Norton and McIntosh and doing school work he'll get to return in 2018 and be, at worst, the team's second best DT.

I'm guessing you've never been there.

I used to think there was no way he was coming back, but after watching that video and reading your posts, I'm almost certain he'll be back. He's got that Miami look. Plus, it's pretty standard these days for troubled guys to leave school, move 3,000 miles away, work out privately with trainers for a year, and then come back.

As I understand it, the kid hasn't graduated. So, either he's going straight to the draft (really dumb, but been done) or coming back. Really the only two options.

He doesn't have brain one in that huge melon on top of his neck?
