Georgia Tech Game

dont you put that evil on me GIF
I remembered today that I was pregnant with my son at the Miami-GT 2016 game, so technically this will be his second game. We kicked GT’s asses that day. It was Richt’s first season, and he was amazed there were so many of us in Atlanta. We also had two sack-fumbles run in for TDs (were they both Shaq Quarterman? I remember one was…) on back-to-back drives and we all went crazy. The DJ was playing Miami jams and it was a fun party.

I have a good feeling about tomorrow. And the chances of rain keep decreasing.

After watching the podcast with the Ga Tech writer, I decided to look to see where the rushing yards came from.

GA Tech rushing stats: Total team rushing STD = 1591 yds, 324 carries, 4.9 ypc

RB Jamal Haynes
122 carries, 598 yds, 4.9 ypc

QB Haynes King
62 carries, 353 yds, 5.7 ypc

RB Chad Alexander
41 carries, 221 yds, 5.4 ypc

RB Anthony Carrie
21 carries, 116 yds, 55 ypc

QB Zach Pyron
35 carries, 115 yds, 3.3 ypc

WR Eric Singleton
10 carries, 88 yds, 8.8 ypc

(a few other guys have carries for 5-50 yds.)

Ga Tech vs FSU = 190 yds rushing, 146 passing

Ga Tech vs Ga State = 225 yds rushing, 274 passing (Ga Tech starters played the entire game. Score was 14-3 at half, final 35-12)

Ga Tech vs Syracuse = 112 yds rushing, 266 passing LOSS

Ga Tech vs VMI = 190 yds rushing, 382 passing

Ga Tech vs Louisville = 98 yds rushing, 312 passing LOSS

Ga Tech vs Duke = 245 yds rushing, 167 passing

Ga Tech vs UNC = 371 yds rushing, 134 passing (Haynes King rushed for 107 yds)

Ga Tech vs ND = 64 yds rushing, 269 passing *** Haynes King DNP LOSS

Ga Tech vs Va Tech = 96 yds rushing, 260 passing *** Haynes King DNP LOSS
Stop the run on defense = GT loss it seems from that

POTENTIAL ROAD CLOSURES:

Per the Georgia Tech website, there are a couple of things going on that could impact road closures.

1. The "Helluva Block Party" is taking place on North Street starting at 8 am (though I heard the road closure could start at 7:30 am). This is important because it is the road JUST SOUTH of the stadium. This may require an approach to the campus that comes in from the WEST side of campus.

2. The Ramblin' Wreck Parade will be taking place on Fowler Street starting at 9 am. This would impact anyone coming in from the NORTH of the campus.

If you arrive SUPER-EARLY, you should be fine. If you arrive close to game time and/or in Uber/Lyft, you may have some issues.

I know a lot of people are parking at the Student Center, just be aware of the road issues.

If you run into any problems with Uber/Lyft, try to get to 3rd Street NW over by Spring Street, and you can take the secret tunnel under I-75/I-85. Possibly the shortest walk you can make to the stadium.

The many times I've gone, the easiest thing to do is park across 75/85 and walk. I'm in the Bank of America parking garage on Peachtree Street. 15 minute walk from the stadium.

Good info thanks

Tomorrow should be fun. I have a friend/former colleague who is in the GT athletics hall of fame. He hit the winning FG for GT against UGA in 1999. He also played against Miami in the Gator Bowl that year. He says what he remembers the most is getting run over by Santana Moss trying to tackle him on a kickoff. I was talking to him last night and he said aside from UGA and Clemson, out of teams that regularly come to Bobby Dodd, Miami brings the most fans.
