Georgia Tech Game

In 2017 I had a bad feeling about the Pitt game. I knew we were going to lose when I read that Richt had thrown a big Thanksgiving banquet the night before the game and the players were all playing grabass. It was going to be cold as a witch’s ****y in Pitt the next day and the Fightin’ Naduzzis weren’t bowl eligible so we were their Super Bowl. They were a tough physical team. Had disaster written all over it. They took away the run and dared Rosier to pass. He couldn’t do it.

I don’t have that feeling vs GT.
I had that same feeling.

This year I’ve felt how I felt before and during all the 2001 games. Even when we’ve been down, I still felt like we were going to be okay. The Cal game reminded me of how I felt during the second half of the 2001 VT game. It’s driving me crazy because I am not getting my hopes up at ALL.

My 7-yeah old son is so excited, he can’t stop talking about the game. He had me order him a Cam Ward jersey and Canes hat and they’re coming today. He’s only ever been to high school (and his own) football games, so I think he’s going to have a blast. Also, this is very special for me because I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues since he was born and until recently we didn’t think I’d ever be able to attend a game in person ever again. Looking forward to celebrating a win with y’all on Saturday! 🙌🏻

I am taking my four year old. I did not think she would be interested at all. I was watching the FSU game and she got herself out of bed and came downstairs, so I let her stay up late and watch the first half with me. Then the Duke game was on and she asked who the bad guys were to boo. My folks are coming up this weekend and I asked her on a whim if she wanted to go, and she said yes, so we will see how it goes. She loves doing the Cam cover mouth/hand motion and runs around doing it all day to get a laugh out of me.

Enjoy the special time with your son, and hopefully better health is on the horizon. I still remember those first games going to the OB with my parents in the 80s. He will too, one day.

I love that! It’s so great seeing these little ones get excited about Cam and this team. You’re so right. Now that we’re old, we reminisce about the first teams and players that we saw, and how they made us fans and many of us alums as well, so it’s so special to experience this with them. I hope you too have an amazing time with your daughter, and make great memories! Thanks for the well wishes too!

I’m taking my 15 year old section 110…for those of you bringing your young ones to their first game, a nooner at Bobby Dodd will be pretty family friendly for an away game.

As a GT alum, it’s a low key environment.

Also not sure if it’s already been mentioned, but since it’s homecoming, Tech is having Big Boi (1/2 of OutKast) perform at the Tech Tower lawn on North Ave for free sometime around 10am.

Looking forward to seeing many Canes fans at the game!

If I remember correctly, the UM players would run onto the field from the southeast corner of the end zone, which is also where the away team ticket allotment is….

I’ve pinned the NE side of the field, because that is definitely where GT drives their ramblin wreck Ford model A onto the field with the team following behind

After watching the podcast with the Ga Tech writer, I decided to look to see where the rushing yards came from.

GA Tech rushing stats: Total team rushing STD = 1591 yds, 324 carries, 4.9 ypc

RB Jamal Haynes
122 carries, 598 yds, 4.9 ypc

QB Haynes King
62 carries, 353 yds, 5.7 ypc

RB Chad Alexander
41 carries, 221 yds, 5.4 ypc

RB Anthony Carrie
21 carries, 116 yds, 55 ypc

QB Zach Pyron
35 carries, 115 yds, 3.3 ypc

WR Eric Singleton
10 carries, 88 yds, 8.8 ypc

(a few other guys have carries for 5-50 yds.)

Ga Tech vs FSU = 190 yds rushing, 146 passing

Ga Tech vs Ga State = 225 yds rushing, 274 passing (Ga Tech starters played the entire game. Score was 14-3 at half, final 35-12)

Ga Tech vs Syracuse = 112 yds rushing, 266 passing LOSS

Ga Tech vs VMI = 190 yds rushing, 382 passing

Ga Tech vs Louisville = 98 yds rushing, 312 passing LOSS

Ga Tech vs Duke = 245 yds rushing, 167 passing

Ga Tech vs UNC = 371 yds rushing, 134 passing (Haynes King rushed for 107 yds)

Ga Tech vs ND = 64 yds rushing, 269 passing *** Haynes King DNP LOSS

Ga Tech vs Va Tech = 96 yds rushing, 260 passing *** Haynes King DNP LOSS
