Generous Donor to UM; lot of Tomatos

Guy makes donation. CIS comedy crew mocks donations for not being used to build a stadium. Poster calls them on it. They get mad. Slap and tickle fight ensues.

Thanks for morning entertainment.

If you want a stadium to be a priority, call Blake James and ask him the process to start a stadium fund. Then donate to it and let us all know how to do the same.

Until then appreciate donations by others or STFU.

This.

Our fan base (mostly) is only capable of complaining on a message board.

They hate the defense and coach, what do they do? Post on a message board.

They are upset about the lack of effort towards a stadium, what do they do? Post on a message board.

They want changes with coach Morris, what do they do? Post on a message board.

This website is good because it gives you the opportunity to be around a few thousand cane fans with ease. If you want to change things, organize and do something productive. Posting on a message board by itself does little to nothing.

Our fan base sucks because for the most part they are lazy, stupid and content with the status quo. I remember people knocking Strauzer because of his stadium petition. Not only did they refuse to sign, they mocked his efforts and essentially tried to prevent his progress by calling it stupid and pointless.

It is one thing to not help, it is a "cane thang" to prevent positive change.

I don't know where a stadium is in Shalala's goals and priorities. What I do know is if it was at the top she would get it done. The lady can get people to depart with their money. What she has done for the U academically is outstanding. No one can question that. I'd like to see her make football a top 3 priority.

Please, please, please please, show me one comment where I mock the donation. Any criticism has been directed towards the school because the allegation has always been (in all fairness not necessarily the school making these allegations) that there isn't any money, or there isn't any land, or its just too complicated.

The total sum of donations (not this particular one) highlights that the money can be there. Marlins Stadium and now the new soccer stadium highlight that there is land and its not too complicated. That just leaves they simply just don't want to.

You have spent the majority of the thread arguing semantics.

My bottom line: A generous donor made a sizable donation to the University, including athletics, and rather than celebrate that gift, you took the opportunity to criticize the University's use of funds and their perceived lack of desire to build a stadium.

At least you got that part right.

Let's assume we have the approval to build a stadium on campus, the BOT, President, etc. is in favor of it, and the money is in place to do it (basically a perfect scenario):

1. I think there is a concern about maintaing a stadium, especially when it'll be used very little over the course of the year.

~ Now don't get me wrong, an on campus stadium could be used for a variety of purposes. So, football wouldn't be the only source of revenue. I'm sure other events can help subsidize the costs of operating it. But, this is getting off track, so i will leave it at that.

2. The volume of people that will bombard Coral Gables during football games. Let's face it, there will definitely be a threat of violence, littering, loitering (basically a reduced quality of life) in and around the UM campus.

~ Having attended games at BC, I must admit, it is possible to regulate this, just sure not sure how probable that would be. Who would be responsible for ensuring the safety of all during games? Where is the money coming from to pay for that?

Those are a few ideas that I think would prevent something like this from occurring. We've read and discussed (either here or elsewhere) stadium talk for a looooooooooooooooong time now. Just wanted to add a few ideas that aren't discussed too much.

On campus stadium won't happen due to space n the city itself. Have u seen the campus or dealt with the city as a student at um? Gables residents hate the school. Tropical park is the most feasible location.

Reread.

I stated that the volume of fans would be a hindrance to us having a football stadium in CG.

I wouldn't attribute UM not having a stadium to Donna being lazy.

I am inclined to believe that some very powerful people at UM simply don't want one.

Generating the money to build a stadium is something I believe Donna and company can absolutely pull off IF the desire to do so is there.

Bingo. Its not high on her list of priorities

The most important man in Miami athletics.

When the school went looking for a coach in 2011, it was Paul DiMare and Bernie Kosar leading the charge.

And he will be there again leading the charge when we go to replace Golden. I hope by that time he has adjusted his criteria that the next HC actually has a winning record against teams in his conference and has won something. I'm juts saying...

You stupid ******* ****.

You, Miami82, I'm talking to you, ****head. You just cost me 00:00:06. Six seconds, and one Cadillac. That's right. What are you going to do about it? What are you going to do about it, *******?

You're ******* ****. Where did you learn your trade, you stupid ******* ****, you idiot? Who ever told you that you could work with men?

Oh, I'm gonna have your job, ****head. I'm going downtown and talk to Andrew & DMoney, and I'm going to LuCane! I don't care whose nephew you are, who you know, whose **** you're sucking on. You're going out, I swear to you, you're going...

honestly the only perfect place for a new stadium is where the OB used to be (now a stadium where i only go to drink and hang out in clevelander) and even then it was a nightmare for some

it is impossible for it to be on campus coral gables will never let that happen

to be honest i really dont see use having a stadium because there really isnt anywhere to put it, and i dont see that soccer stadium being a option because im pretty sure it wont be big enough and beckham probably wants people to go their for his type of football

options: tear down that oversized bar where to OB used to be or just keep going to NO LIFE

to add we can have home field atmosphere at NO LIFE, if people can actually go to the dam games, example: the UF game

First of all Kudos to Mr. Dimare as if you met him he is a great person. His son Gino played at Miami and is a coach at Miami and was a part of our last 2 baseball championships.

Howard Schnellenberger had an architectural plan done for an on campus stadium in 1981 but the City of Coral Gables was and is the biggest stumbling block. The stadium was 44,000 with a possibility to expand. It is similar to what he had built at FAU and he spearheaded Louisville's new stadium when he was there. If he couldn't get an on campus stadium built it will never happen.
