All of that sounds good in theory.

But what actually happens is as follows.

The SEC (and Big 10) start with a dominant number of Top 25 teams. And then when one of their Top 25 teams loses to another Top 25 team, it is a "quality loss", so they don't drop down very far. Even when Pedo State and Oregon struggle early against TERRIBLE non-Big-10 teams, they are STILL hanging around the Top 25.

So if a core of 15 teams just keep sucking each other's *****...the next thing you know, you'll have a BUNCH of 3-loss SEC and Big 10 teams that populate the Final 12. Sure, you'll have an ACC team and a Big 12 team and a non-P4 team...

And then the rest will come from the SEC and Big 10. Remember, they don't all play each other anymore. And only the top 2 teams in each conference have to play in a championship game.

In other words, the rankings become a self-fulfilling prophesy. If you start high, you stay high, even after a couple of losses.

Which is why the complacent "if we keep winning, everything will work itself out, man" crowd is wrong. ACC teams have to lobby to be ranked as high as possible every week, because even one loss will validate the "ACC competition sucks" crowd.
Yeah, ND got to stay top 20 because people started the year thinking they were great. They lost to a mid-level high school team, but preseason expectations keep them top 20. And that keeps Tamu’s loss to them respectable.

Meyer was able to win pretty quickly at UFlop because Ron Zook had left him alot of talent.

Besides Lagway, Wilson, Howard, and a few others, Florida's talent cupboard is pretty bare. Thank Mullen for that. *IF* Kiffin were to take the UFlop job, he'd be walking into a tough situation. Additionally some players may decide to leave if Napier gets let go.

Meanwhile, Mario will continue building a monster.

Yea it would take Lane three seasons to try and get things going. He won’t win quickly there that’s for sure.

I agree with your points, but would add that four or five Ole **** starters would follow Kiffin to Florida.

Believe Kiffin would have UF competitive, very competitive, in year 2. He is an elite offensive coach and he has used the transfer portal very effectively at Ole Miss. He actually had FAU playing decent ball in year 2. Kiffin, with NIL money at UF, would do very well.

Very likely by year 2 cause of the transfer rules, he will know who is a player and doesn't have to HS eval.......also hes good with QBs like Mullen. They just got a knack for that QB room.

If Lane takes the UiF job, does Lagway stay?
