They see something they can work with. It could be a bad eval by the sites and our guys got it right. I'll trust Mario and Mirabal on this evaluation. Prove them wrong

It's not like we only going after lower ranked players either but look at the guy's frame and his arm. Recruiting sites do not know to evaluate OL better than coaches, great coaches at that

Facts it's tough to evaluate OL TE and QB.....DT as well I would say those are the most difficult. Hard to evaluate puberty as well u never know what a player will grow into. PAUSE

Yea I think you did it just right. That way they don’t take it down. You even have citations. You’re playing 3-D chess with those folks. Hope it stays up forever.

First, let's analyze it from Billy Gaypier's standpoint. HE KNEW the kid had a visit scheduled in ONE WEEK to Miami. For motherfuggin' Legends Weekend. Now, say what you will about normal visits. They can be scheduled and unscheduled and rescheduled. But this is Legends Weekend. A once a year event that cannot simply be moved out a week. And still Billy persisted. He pressured the kid to commit because BILLY NEEDED A WIN. Not because there were any other OLs on hold. Not because there was some special exigency that required a decision that could not wait 7 or 8 days. NOPE. Billy pressured the kid to commit RIGHT THEN AND THERE because it's what was best for Billy, not what was best for the kid.

Second, in that circumstance, it seems like Billy was trying to recapture "Good Cop Billy" after playing "Bad Cop Billy". "Sure, kid, I'm not going to arrest you, I'm going to let you take that trip to Miami, and then I expect to see you after that and we can act like it never happened." I mean, what did the Gaytors fans think that Billy could do in that situation? Were the Gaytors paying the kid a nice NIL deal, and throwing in another 75K to shut it down? NOPE. Do the Gaytors fans think they had ANY LEVERAGE to pull the kid's offer? What other OLs did they have lined up? And why would we think the kid couldn't get an offer from a better school than UiF, such as UCF?

Third, and here is the key, at the time of the offer, the Gaytors had no idea the kid would get a committable offer from Miami, since he didn't have one at the time. Mario and Alex and Alonzo are very big on SEEING the linemen up close, talking with them, figuring out the personality...BEFORE they make a committable offer. So, again, what ULTIMATELY happens down the road doesn't rewrite EARLIER HISTORY. And at the time that Billy "allowed" the kid to visit Miami, it was just a hypothetical, it wasn't an actual tangible committable offer. BUT THINGS CHANGE.

Look, Gaytor fans, I have a really simple answer for you. If you have a kid who still has OVs to take, if you have a kid who is seriously considering another school that he hasn't yet had the chance to visit, DON'T PRESSURE HIM INTO A VERBAL COMMITMENT BECAUSE YOU DESPERATELY NEED SOME RECRUITING MOMENTUM.

This is your fault, Billy. This is your fault, Gaytors. Not because you "let" the kid visit Miami. It's actually because you bum-rushed him to give you a verbal that he didn't really want or mean to give.

THAT was the stupid decision. It wasn't "letting him visit Miami". It was pushing for an on-the-spot verbal.

More of that Billy Gaypier "tremendous recruiting acumen"...

Know why I pay big bucks for this site? It's because fine folks like you are willing to spend your time doing deep-dives into why the gater does what he does. I mean, you can't just get that sh*t on any street corner, you have to come here. Every other site would just say "they don't know what the f*ck they're talking about" and be done with it.
