Tears Gator Tears

As proof of relevance, I would ask 5rangz to show one instance of national sports media asking “is Florida back?” Or debating “why college football is better when the university of Florida is good”. I mean, both of our football teams have been in a slump for the last decade. They have had worse seasons than us, we have just been steadily mediocre, not terrible followed by a good season. But nobody in America gives a crap about the gators stepping up on the national stage
Florida never fell into an abyss like Miami, hasn't gone over twenty years without a national championship or conference championship, and whether or not college football is better when Florida is good, unlike Miami, isn't debatable and doesn't require articles attempting to convince an audience because the answer is an unequivocal "yes".

Last time Miami was relevant was 5 years ago, last time Florida was relevant was 3 years ago. That gulf is not terribly wide. However, both schools in the last decade had to hire and fire three head coaches, neither a sign of a healthy football program. And Florida’s bad seasons in the last decade were significantly worse than Miami’s bad seasons. If you don’t think Florida’s rut has been as bad, you are delusional if you look at objective results on the field

And yet, one of our programs has won its conference before and hasn't gone over two decades without a national championship.

We’ve won our conference many times. Not our current conference. But as that decade national championship drought advances, the difference becomes much less significant. To the point that 5 is much more significant than 3. So as far as program significance, for historical purposes, Miami is much more relevant. Wake me when you guys have a section at the college football hall of fame dedicated to your team. I’ll wait

Let's not talk about how long the it took university in Gainesville to win its first SEC championship... 👀

The original Big East isn't a conference anymore, and the new one isn't your conference. Ahh, here comes the "historical" argument. That's all you guys have nowadays because unless you remind everyone that you used to be good by screaming it from the mountaintops, nobody will remember you're in the room. We can suck all we want, but we have the money and renown as an *athletics* program that we'll always have a seat at the grownups table.

The same thing you guys do with your “we won a natty a decade ago with a coach who then went on to win a natty at a different school” are doing. Guess what. I’m the football world, Miami has a seat at the table as well, for what we’ve contributed to the sport.

Yes, you have a seat at the kiddie table.

You know you’re a UF fan when: you constantly bring up conference titles, on campus stadiums, and crowd sizes. While completely ignoring every single other factor that determines a football program’s excellence. Championships, AA’s, HOF, head to head, draft picks. You’ve already admitted in this thread (in your big brother debate) that UF is a much older program and has produced much less. I’d bet my house and ol’ lefty that we win another before you do. All Gator fans say UM fans live in the past then immediately talk about a championship a decade ago lol. I guess you can’t go further back than a decade?

Next you’ll be saying, “Gatorade bro!”

Gotcha, that’s probably why we were able to make a coaching hire that is universally considered to be better, and assemble a staff universally considered better overall. The main difference I notice between Miami fans and gator fans is most Miami fans will acknowledge the success of Florida, but, due to their inferiority complex, most gator fans won’t acknowledge ANY Miami success. You’re a good example of this. I mean, it was on your board that you guys were pretty confident you could hire cristobal, but once we did, they seem to think without any evidence, that Napier is a better coach. Maybe he is, at the end of the day. But at this time, he has an inferior resume

A decade is still more recent than anything Miami has done.

I don't think that the word "universally" means what you think it does. Gee, doesn't that just drive you crazy that we won't acknowledge it? That must really annoy you.

Most of us on our board didn't want Cristobal, so I don't really care about your take on that.

I only made it my username because I saw you guys whine about it over here before making my account and wanted to ruffle your feathers some more. Mission was accomplished. If I could change it, I would, because I've gotten my entertainment from it.
You can change it. You have to go into your profile and there’s an option. We can change names every 30 days. It’s good because if someone picks a name like Willgriergoat or on our board - SamBruceMyBabyDaddy - they’re not stuck.
