Game with Southern Miss in 2014?

Why on earth would anyone think we'd actually be going TO Southern Miss for a game? Dammit.

Nebraska went there, Virginia went there, NC State went there, Cal went there (with Aaron Rodgers), Illinois went there, Oklahoma State went there, Texas A&M went there, Virginia Tech went there....should I continue?

Thought Nebraska's game with them was played in the Superdome? Anyway, nothing suggests we're going there. There's nothing about a series with them, just a game. There's no way we're playing a one shot in Hattiesburg.

It was in Hattiesburg. Nothing suggests we're going to Hattiesburg, but there is no reason we can't based on what other schools have done. That was my point. If it's one game, of course it'll be in Miami. If it's a series, we can go to Hattiesburg.

I'm not in favor of an automatic bid. Top 8 teams go. Needs some checks and balances becuase as of now like 4 SEC teams would make it. But I'm not keen on handing out spots just because you're the best in the Big 12 on a down year. Nor do I think a 4 loss team who pulls an upset in the conference championship should walk into the National title picture over a 1 loss BCS team from possibly a tougher conference.

If you take the 8 best teams in the country all season, I guarantee that the best team in the country will emerge from that group. Its going to make for great games, great ratings, and add some games to the docket. All the old traditions are out the window anyways, so why be stubborn with the old bowl system.

You can't really do it your way, because there isn't enough regular season games to determine who is the best 8 teams in the country objectively. At least if you include conference champs, 5 of the 8 are decided directly on the field.

I agree. You need the conference champions in the games making up 5 of the 8 spots. The best 3 other teams will take the at large spots.

Black Keys,

I get what your saying. In 2010, UConn went to a BCS bowl with an 8-4 record. They were not that good and perhaps should not have been in the game. Over time, because college football is cyclical, conferences will get better and get worse. Look at the ACC right now, we had a bunch of down years...now we're looking better as a conference (Miami, Clemson and FSU) and may have 3 top 10 teams year end.

So in individual years there may be down years, over time it makes the most sense to tie the conference champion in one of these spots.

Put Penn State in the open game slot we recruit the North East and that will get UM another TV game Guaranteed. They can even come to Sun Life it will be like a bowl game for them mid season.

Go Canes!

You will never get a PSU type school to agree to a single road game contract...thats why its always weak opponents who need a check... also I doubt PSU is trying to schedule hard games right now:-)

Looking for a decent opponent in 2016/17...

How about Michigan State?

We have a home and home with Sparty in 2020 and 2021.

We should REALLY try to get Tennessee back on the schedule.

Yes please, to shut up all the **** parking cone orange wearing dumbass rednecks around me. And Butch Jones and his dumbass ripping off the brick by brick thing.

A game deep in SEC country... Could see the reasoning with recruiting in mind

I thought we had Clemson, I would try to schedule something else than Southern Miss. We don't really recruit that area. I would sooner schedule LA-Monroe or Texas State.

I disagree, we do recruit out of Mississippi...Hinds CC remember them?

You mean they recruit us (Eddie Johnson). Who did we recruit from them?

WE have a rich recruiting history with Hinds CC...off the top of my head Andrew Williams is a Hinds CC guy.

Anyone since 2000? I don't really anyone in the last 5-6 years. I don't even remember a prospect we recruited in that time.
