Game with Southern Miss in 2014?

A game deep in SEC country... Could see the reasoning with recruiting in mind

I thought we had Clemson, I would try to schedule something else than Southern Miss. We don't really recruit that area. I would sooner schedule LA-Monroe or Texas State.

Would love them to play a Texas team.... Rice, Houston, or if we wanna get old school canes tcu

Hitting that Houston or Dallas Fort Worth area would be great

I wish we could get a home and home with UT or TAMpon. I would play Rice or Houston at home though.

I thought the ACC decided to go with 8 conference games until further notice (meaning until the SEC decides to go to 9 conference games). If that's the case, I doubt we play both Louisville and Clemson.

I made a mistake and realized it was 2015. We only play 8 ACC games next year.

It's cool, bro. I didn't make any travel plans just yet. :) Thanks for the correction.

UT series these next 3 or 4 years would be great to play as they have slipped and wins in their house would be huge for Texas recruiting

Since the Gators are scared to play us again, I wonder if Blake can schedule another SEC school for a home and home series. I would love for Miami to play Tennessee again, but they look like they're trying to rebuild. I wouldn't mind a series with Texas A&M again.

I just forgot... Isn't the ACC & Big 12 suppose to be doing a scheduling alliance? If so, we might be playing Texas, OU or OSU in the very near future.

A lot of these BIG teams won't do a home and home for some reason.

I think we should try to get one of these Big 12 teams for a game at Yankee Stadium or in the Northeast.

We wont be putting an SEC powerhouse in there if we turned LSU down. Wouldnt make sense and it would make us look like chicken littles.

If we indeed play FAMU and Arky State next year please dont add Southern Miss. There has to be someone else available.

I had NO CLUE we played Louisvile next year. WOW. Great timing I would say.

i am fine with an easy non conference schedule next year. breaking in a new QB is never fun. nebraska though winnable will still be a challenge.

agreed. I didn't know about louisville next year also. Maybe it's because I can't get over our terrible 2006 season but I cannot stand Louisville and make up for that 31-7 thrashing they gave us that year

Haven't we said we're only looking to play 1 big name per year? If we already have Nebraska, we're not going to add an SEC or Big 12 school. We're going to add a C-USA or Sun Belt team.

I don't see the appeal of playing in Yankee stadium?

I don't follow, are you asking what is the appeal of playing in Yankee stadium? Or are you questioning yourself whether there is an appeal in playing in Yankee Stadium?

Louisville from an athletics standpoint was a real coup for the ACC... However, I think they might just be a newer version of Virginia Tech, a gigantic pain in the behind and another school that loves to recruit in Miami.

What benefits us playing there

I remember reading that we're going to take another route in terms of scheduling. And to be honest with you, I don't blame us one bit for doing it. This is a new era of CFB since most schools from the P5 (aka Power 5) conferences are saying that they're having scheduling difficulties due to the increase volume of conference games.

I think the 'anytime, anyplace, anywhere' mantra might be over considering that college football will be going to a playoff format next year.

A few things:

1. Recruiting, we recruit NJ and NY along with the Northeast area.

2. This would be similar to what Alabama, LSU or Notre Dame has been doing, scheduling a big game at a "neutral" site.

Bama
2015: Wisconsin at ATT Stadium (Arlington, TX)
2014: WVU at the Georgia Dome
2013: VT at the Georgia Dome
2012: Mich at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium

LSU
2014: Wisconsin at Reliant Stadium (Arlington, TX)
2011: Oregon at Cowboys Stadium

Notre Dame
2014: Syracuse at MetLife Stadium
2014: Navy at Fed-ex Field
2012: Navy at Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland
2012: Miami at Soldier Field

The game has a lot of appeal and we could probably make a boat load of money from it. We would also get exposure in those areas.

3. Outside of Florida (South Florida) a good concentration of alumni are in the Northeast. Very good game in terms getting donations and the alumni base involved.

This game would be instead of playing a traditional road opponent.

Agree. I think the playoff format makes AD and teams think that playing tough OOC teams to legitimize their team is not needed when they can just run their conference table then play the other 3 best teams in the country for the ship

Lets get a real opponent. I understand the soft schedule idea but it really does suck from a fans perspective.

Agree defiantly can see how having our own neutral big time game in the northeast could help

Rep you again once I can!!!

For one, Miami's northeastern alumnus would love it. And two, playing in the sports Mecca of the world is a plus.
