The difference isn't really the talent. I watched a Vanderbilt game where the announcers talked about how Vanderbilt recruits. They really zero in on the type of player they want and evaluate the player as a person during the entire process, not just their skills. They don't take early commits. The way the announcer explained it, at the end of the recruiting process the player is just about begging to sign rather than the coaches begging the players. You're not lying. Watch Vanderbilt play, which I bring up because they are another private school with lots of draft prospect talent.
They play the game very hard, they make smart decisions, and they execute at every part of the game. But they also play the game with an edge and are ****y and intense the whole way. No hits are relented. No extra base is conceded. If you even want one hit against them, you have to earn it.
I do not pretend to know why the difference is there for Miami, but it is certainly there in my opinion.
It depends on how you define talent. Our guys might have the measurables, but they don't have baseball smarts. Like you said, Vandy looks across the country to find great kids who are really good at baseball. We recruit exit velo and body type. The difference isn't really the talent. They might say that recruit “great kids” but let’s be real here. They have the top two prospects in the draft. Leiter was a no brainer top 2 round pick out of high school and still showed up on campus. They bring in top notch kids and develop them even further. They only look like great kids bc they play hard and as a team. The difference isn't really the talent. I watched a Vanderbilt game where the announcers talked about how Vanderbilt recruits. You missed the point. What I was referring to has nothing to do with talent. It depends on how you define talent. Our guys might have the measurables, but they don't have baseball smarts. Yes, for the love of GodI am once again asking for Gino to relieve ADC of any duties outside of hitting. I am begging you to make the kids life easier. He’s the key to our offense and we’re handicapping him.
PS: He’s not even the best catcher on the roster

Scouts wanted to see ADC develop as a catcher. In my opinion, they are trying to help him do so. At the detriment of the team a little bit.I am once again asking for Gino to relieve ADC of any duties outside of hitting. I am begging you to make the kids life easier. Yep that’s my point. In college sports as long as you aren’t arrested peolle will call you a great kid. But if you aren’t good it doesn’t matter how nice you are. It's both. They ARE great kids because Tim Corbin doesn't tolerate anything less. Vandy works hard to find those kids from coast to coast.
Well out of high school he was known for his offense this is his first full year as a catcher, its going to be a work in progress for him defensively. I'd have perez catch on Sundays and put Del Castillo at DH.I am once again asking for Gino to relieve ADC of any duties outside of hitting. I am begging you to make the kids life easier.
