Amazing how little Al was left with. For those who have been demanding instant results from this staff these last couple of years, I hope you find this insightful:

@proCanes: See which rounds Mell Kiper predicts #proCanes Brandon McGee & Mike James will be drafted in http://t.co/FRQFFwSxT2

This is a FULL ON rebuilding job. And we're getting better every day. We had to completely flip the roster and were almost there.

Every day I further realize how fortunate we are that a guy of Golden's drive, vision, and caliber came to this program.

While I am not going to comment on RS because it is a dead topic....I will take the opportunity to thread-jack, how do you feel about Al offering a 2016 kid?

Do some of you feel good knowing your coach is recruiting 3 classes into the future?

Do some of you feel that your coach is likely bolting for another college?

Offense.... NO

Defense..... Yes

..... BTW that info about McGee and James sounds like good news to me. If not for Al Goldens program they wouldnt even get drafted at all.

So golden actually goes through the toughest time he will ever have coaching Miami and leave just when things get better?

believe it or not what coaches want more than Salary is long term contract. Golden can go to lets say USC and end up not doing so great and he gets fired and is back to Temple level. OR....he can stay in Miami and keep building and have a job for the next 10-15+ years.

I honestly see Golden only leaving to go to the NFL. Miami has put too much in to the football program and the admin loves Golden so they will match salary to keep him around

I am with you. I am asking on behalf of the nutbag Miami fans.

Goldens and company have done a good job of sifting through the rubble and extracting what they could from the mess left by the previous regime. However, there was enough talent in 2011 to have performed better than 6-6.

Those losses to Maryland and BC really stick out as inexcusable in spite of the external circumstances which surrounded both games. Close losses to K-State, VTech, and FSU were hard fought games that were there for the taking. The talent pool dropped off considerably from 2011-2012, but to say that Goldens inherited nothing from Shannon is just false. We could have gone 9-3/8-4 in 2011 with the talent available and that could have boosted recruiting and the program's image. Goldens is not absolved from criticism, despite however much you don't want that to be the case.

Not after seeing him in the black track suit for the spring game. Dude LOVES South Florida, and he looks the part.

And with the cash in college football these days, there's really no reason to leave for the NFL.

Losing to Merryland as the result of a majority of starters being suspended a week before the game will give Golden a pass from me. However, losing to BC to end the season is inexcusable imho

I can't believe this is still being discussed.

When the thread is about condemning Shannon's classes, I think the past is relevant here.

I would say at some point both of these guys were on the fence about being drafted at all. Pretty crazy.

Still though, remember that year Bama went without a player drafted. Seems impossible.

The talent pool did drop off considerably from '11 to '12, which makes our 7-5 record in 2012 (with a much tighter schedule) that much more impressive.

And @ Maryland, in the rain, in the opener, with all of our impact starters out for the game, deserves a pass.
