I'd pass on Beck. i get the argument in favor of him, but I think Nickel is the real deal, I think he is the future, and you risk Nickel either looking elsewhere or, more likely, rotting on the bench for the year. Beck to me is not elite, so is it to go 9-3 instead of 8-4? I'd let Nickel start and see what he can do. The " learn from the veteran" narrative is overplayed. They learn by playing.

I think situation would be really good for Nickel.

He would be getting starter reps in spring and compete with Emory and Judd. The spring would be an audition for both QB2 and QB of the future.

I could be wrong but I think Nickel just moved into campus on Monday when the dorms reopened. I know the portal is crazy but it would be pretty wild to leave a few days later or even in the spring because we brought in a guy with an injured arm that will only be here for one season and can’t even play in the spring.

I’m not a fan of Beck either but right now we have $2 in our pocket it’s freezing outside and we need to pay our heat, mortgage and all of our other monthly expenses so we better pray this $2 scratch off hits.

I’m not as down on beck as a lot seem to be. But I am very weary of our starter for next year being in a cast right now. I get it, Brock purdy got the same surgery, not all bodies are the same and not all healing processes are the same. We still need to bring in someone at the number 2 spot if that isn’t Emory.

How is Beck cheeks? He put up decent #’s in a crappy system, with inferior talent, against harder comp. Was also projected to be a 1st rounder in the upcoming draft. That **** doesn’t make sense. Is he the best QB in CFB? No. Is he far better than what we have? 100%. You’re obviously the glass half empty guy these days though so please elaborate.

Because there's an element of this board and sports fans in general that thinks everything, everyone, and every team sucks if there is any hint of imperfection. I can't imagine what goes on in their personal lives.
