I'd pass on Beck. i get the argument in favor of him, but I think Nickel is the real deal, I think he is the future, and you risk Nickel either looking elsewhere or, more likely, rotting on the bench for the year. Beck to me is not elite, so is it to go 9-3 instead of 8-4? I'd let Nickel start and see what he can do. The " learn from the veteran" narrative is overplayed. They learn by playing.

I’m not as down on beck as a lot seem to be. But I am very weary of our starter for next year being in a cast right now. I get it, Brock purdy got the same surgery, not all bodies are the same and not all healing processes are the same. We still need to bring in someone at the number 2 spot if that isn’t Emory.

It's absolutely a risk but one you gotta take if you're Mario. The alternative (because it ain't Emory) is sitting and waiting to see what shakes out in the portal in spring, which is a much riskier option.

If we were to get these numbers next year we'd have a puncher's chance to be pretty good. You think Emory puts up these numbers? Imagine if these were TVD's #s in 2023.

IF Beck is healthy and IF we land another premier WR we’ll be cooking. I’m higher on Beck than most. Gotta remember he’s taking a step down in competition. Has thrown for 3500+ yards back to back seasons, which until this season, would’ve been Miami records while being corched by Bobo. I wanted Mateer cuz of upside but Beck can easily land us back to back 1st RD QBs. Let’s see what WR we land in spring

Beck is an NFL talent. There’s a reason why he was being talked about as the #1 pick entering the season. UGA had ****** OL and no run game. On top of that, his receivers were not good. Don’t get me started on Bobo. If he’s healthy and comes to Miami, he’ll be a 1st round pick in the 2026 draft. Playing in Dawson’s offense behind this OL will raise his stock back to what it was. Definitely need to add a top flight WR though to go with him because the current group….

I'm play a little devil's advocate and say one sh*tty half, where he wasn't allowed to throw for an entire quarter and never had a chance to get in a rhythm and was only allowed to throw downfield when we got desperate, doesn't necessarily mean he's cooked. But it certainly didn't inspire any confidence and Mario can't afford an unproven QB who did nothing in his last appearance. There's also a reason he was neck and neck with Poff and couldn't claim the clear #2 spot.

I'll say Emory at best could be a decent game manager and that's just not enough. You need your QB to win you a few games and I would say there's zero confidence in the building Emory can do that. But he could still be an okay backup.

Need to add a proven wr but the room theoretically looks good. JoJo, Carr, Ray Ray, Robinson, add in Daniels as well there is plenty of talent there. Now can they take the next step is the question.

He’s also a lot more athletic than people think. Obviously a pass first kid but he can tuck it and get 10 yards if things aren’t there. He’s not a statue. He’s not Mateer, by any means. But he’s not TVD either.
