Still wouldn't consider him a miss yetI included him because we immediately recruited over him with SJ, and I don't think he has the size to play any other place but C
Even if/when SJ takes over at C having quality depth is important

That's fair.Still wouldn't consider him a miss yet

Well for every copper you're losing 1/5 starting spots for 3 years+. The more entrenched starters the more you lose guys because the less PT there is. Cooper/Mauigoa will be starting here 3yrs now. Bell was a half time starter this yr and looks like he will be next yr and perhaps the year after as well. McCoy and Rodriguez have been developing and are likely to be starter quality. And then maybe Samson and/or Kinsler can take the next step... Or we lose 1/both of them too... That's just how it worksEvery questionable commit is the next Cooper. Except Cooper is the only Cooper and it has been 4 years.

An anez Cooper hit as a 3 star OLineman who starts 3 years is a major hit. That is "worth" like 4 misses at OLine lol.
That’ll be the two projects at tackle this cycle in a couple of years
Is that uncommon?Arguably almost 10 OL projects in the last 3 cycles.
Then the portal guys who don’t play will dip. No matter what there will always be transfers. Some kids don’t think they’re projects.Tired of wasting space in HS classes on projects. Gone are the days of stashing away players with potential for 2-3 years. Should only sign guys ready to contribute right away, and save the rest of the money and resources for the portal.
Exactly! Along with recruiting overrated players. No, fsu ended up where they are because instead of doing what they were doing before which was taking portal players who were the best player or one of the top 3 best players on their respective teams they decided to take high potential players who contributed nothing to their respective teams.
Mario probably wants to hit like two 5star OTs ever 3-4 years would be my guess.Arguably almost 10 OL projects in the last 3 cycles.
That's the thing, projects aren't willing to stick around and develop nowadays...That’ll be the two projects at tackle this cycle in a couple of years
Not sure that one is fair yet. In this day and age it makes more sense to go get g5 reps.Another 3 star special from the OL gurus
We had a zero star that was ok.Didnt we just sign a bunch of 3 stars?
Sure but there's still alot of good players who were big time contributers on their team even if they werent the best player. If high-school recruiting and development is king than transfer portal recruitment is queen. Just take a look at the teams in the playoffsIf you haven’t noticed the best players aren’t in the portal anymore at the same rate they were before. Highschool recruiting and development is king
Good point. And it’s especially relevant to OL in regards to size/strengh, technique and footworks a given, but 18 yr olds gonna grow some. Physically and mentally. The key is measuring a kids intangibles, maturity and work ethic for instance.I think there is room for projects especially at OL given the roster size expansion coming soon. FYI, we just signed 2 projects in this past OL class
This certainly is an understatement.
Not naming names but we have some coaches that are projectsToo many projects on this team especially on the OL.
