For those bashing our defensive staff for not closing...

True story. I mentioned this about two years ago on this board. The gentrification of places like Miami Gardens and slowly Overtown has led to a exodus of sort of African American families to Atlanta. I got negged like **** for it but if one looks at census statistics it’s quantifiable.

Tyrique's aunt - (mother's sister) - lives in Atlanta. He said it a few times over the past year.

I agree. Some people are missing the point. When @DMoney was saying bags don't matter, I think it's more that he's making the point that we've dropped so far down in relevance (like losing flip battles to Minnesota and flipping App State 2 stars) that bags are not the main issue for us at this time because the Bama, Clemson, UGA schools don't need them as much against us in battles but more gainst each other and the next levels down.

When I've the stories of Patrick Peterson and Dwayne Bowe.....sure, bags. It's obvious. But it's not as prevalent right now in our current state.

Papo, I have news for you. There were African Americans living in Atlanta waaay before the "Gentrification" of Miami Gardens and Overtwown. Atlanta is probably the second city in the US other the the Metro DC area for successful AA.

My son bought a Mustang from a guy in Atlanta that actually lives in Athens; but is a Baga grad. True story. Maybe that's why Steven's Son and Bugle went to those two wonderful universities.

These are our top 5 corners headed into next season:

Bandy- 4*
Blades- 4*
Ivey- 4*
Frierson- 4*
Couch- 4*

Given what Rumph has done with his other corners, this is 124th on the list of things we should be concerned about.

The problem with this is Bandy is the only one we know is a legit college level corner. If 1 or 2 of those guys dont pan out for whatever reason be it not good enough or get into trouble than you add the possibility of injury factor were screwed. This is why until we stack 4 classes on top of each other to create depth will never get to where we wanna go. Take a look at our Wr depth chart before the season and then look at the end of the season.

Wonder how they got better at recruiting???? Oh wait you said bags aren’t the problem...
James Coley has always been a good recruiter even at UM. He got Chad Thomas, Jaquan, Kaaya, Yearby and Walton. bringing him back wouldn't be an awful hire. We could do better tho

Sickening picture you’re painting but very realistic. I didn’t expect Diaz to fire Banda because he’s basically his son. And we already saw how having your son on staff goes. But to keep Rumph was a real head scratcher. There’s never been a bigger bust as a recruiter in college football. The guy missed on every kid he coached and some since Pee Wee.

I don’t know how we fix the defensive recruiting with all the same guys. But I guess we’ll see how it goes. Manny seems like a bright guy so hopefully he has a good plan aside from “we just need to win more games.”

The way we fix it is first of all quit letting them be the lead recruiter on top prospects. Dugans and Hartley should of been recruiting those top Db's. You know who signed Tyson Campbell and Tyrique? James Coley did a guy who doesn't even coach their side of the ball. Best recruiters on staff = Primary recruiter on top targets regardless of position they coach.

Wtf are you talking about, Nunn flopped to us and for some inexplicable reason flipped back. Oh wait, he flipped in the midst of loss after loss because or moribund offense.

Several other posters above said his mom wanted him out of Miami, so it sounds like we are both incorrect on Nunn. That said, I'm sure the losing has cost us recruits. But that makes us turning our back on kids that have wanted to play here all the more stupid. And there are plenty of those as well. We can't keep playing with only seventy something scholarship players.

James Coley was the lead recruiter for Tyrique Stevenson. Joe Pannunzio was the lead recruiter for Khris Bogle. I guess they got a lot better at recruiting since they left Miami.

Today wasn’t about individual coaches “whiffing.” It was about a program that needs to regain its respect on the field.

DMONEY - I really respect your insights and opinions, but this time - you are wrong. These kids GOT PAID. It is the number 1, 2 and 3 reason they are not Canes. Yes, the program is in disarray, pending a restart by Manny. But these say these kids were signed and money was not the number one reason is simply naive! Alabama bought them!

There is no doubt they got paid. But we are making it too easy for these teams. It’s easy to negative recruit against our record.

Kaaya was an incredible find. It gave me the (mistaken) belief that Coley had an eye for QBs. Then I saw how Rosier, Shirreffs, Allison and Perry turned out.
In fairness (though I hate continuing this debate), no one should consider Coley a great QB evaluator. He was known as a great recruiter because he can sell kids, but evals and particularly qb evals, that was not something he was known for, imo.

This theory is bogus. The negative recruiting has been going on since the 80s. Small fan base, old ****** stadium, empty stadium off campus 45 mins away....

We could be 12-0 and it would not make a difference. We’re we getting all the local studs during our reign at the top? **** no! We landed a couple local studs and got the rest from elsewhere. FSU and UF were killing us for 30 years in recruiting.

Who cares if we make more difficult? That won’t change a god **** thing. Other teams will up the ante.

This is exactly why we need to change the recruiting blueprint/ philosophy.

There are no participation trophy’s in recruiting. By making it more difficult does not stop the problem. Kids and families will be bought regardless of our situation.

We need to evaluate better. We need to be coached. Point blank

we could use someone who can sell kids right now

This is correct. And not just our record. Anyone who watches us play on offense jas to cringe. If that is what our staff produces, who can fault a kid for not wanting to sign his future over to UM. It’s not just an offense issue, either. Any defensive player who watched Richt’s O had to wonder about the

we can use a lot of things right now. Let’s see how the offensive staff fills out.

I refuted your false statement with facts. You said "Coley was a better recruiter than Banda at UM." I gave you Coley's record at UM. One four star QB and two FCS QBs in three years. Those are the facts. You can type another 1,000 words and it won't change the results.

As for the rest of Coley's Miami record, he thought Yearby was a better RB than Cook. So he prioritized Yearby and got him. That didn't work out too well.

You spend the rest of your post talking about Coley at other, more successful programs. That's exactly the point. We don't know how Banda would do at other jobs. I only know how he has done at Miami. And so far, he's landing a lot more four stars here than Coley ever did.
Did Coley only recruit QBs at UM, D? I’m surprised by that. Also, by the time it got toxic here the last year and a half under Folden no one was going to be successful recruiting.

Never said bottom level....said not championship caliber.....nit picking 2 Wisconsin 2 toledo....BC.....games where the D looked like shlt and got exposed....run along little one and stop following me around

You were so far off you thought I made up stats,....lol

I'll promise to run along if you promise to stop posting the same falsehoods over and over. You dont like an aggressive defense that led the nation in tfl,... we get it by now.

Some will,..some wont,...we have a new DC now and let's hope you like him alot better.
