Plus

+ 1st Half Morris: 2 amazing TD throws and outplayed Winston to that point IMO.

+ Allen Hurns: His two touchdown catches were huge.

+ The Bush & Jenkins INT's: It's what kept us in the game. Bush was rewarded by barely playing after his it seems.

Minus

- Duke's Injury: **** ME

- 2nd Half Morris: Mierda

i'd say we drop to at least #20 just because they the media will say i told ya so...

Coley and Hurns beat FSU multiple times and Morris could not get him them the ball.

-We need speed at LB and safety.

We need improved team speed on defense from the back seven, our pass rush still sucks but an offseason hitting the wights will help McCord and AQM

Honestly what I whiteness live was god awful. Morris was A stud in the first half except for a few wide open misses. Second half for Morris was abysmal.

Aside from a few plays, I think coley called a good game. NO MORE SCREENS!'

Donofrio is a fraud. I don't care what anyone has to say. We played that soft zone all night Winston checked it, found the hole, and scrambled for the 1st. No answers. They punted once.

Highsmith pulled a Kacy Rodgers and whiffed on a pick. He never needs to never play again at S.

Run defense was got awful. We let the backs get to the edge all night. They won by running.

I noticed several things:

-Coley refuses to expand playbook, he consistently squanders drives by running the same run play on first and second downs.

-As a senior Morris has already shown his peak, he is what his play shows and that is a stronger armed less confident Jacory Harris.

-We dont rotate our backs enough, Duke is not ready to shoulder an entire load consistently.

-the worst part of our defense is not the vanilla play-calling (which sucks also) its the lack of decent personnel groups. There is to many times we get caught with more than one liability on the field at once. Ex: 30, 31 and 51 should never be on field yet alone all at same time. We cant only bring in our "pass rushers" if you want to call them that on 3rd and long. That defeats whole purpose if the offense knows hey these guys are going to come in and just sprint up field. we watched **** tear us up on 3rd down with very little rush bothering him.

* Talent-wise we're almost there. We've definitely closed the gap over the past couple years.

* We have real problems on offense. Some want to say Morris; Its hard to completely disagree. He simply plays the game mentally about an 1/8 second slower than the flow of the play.

For me, I still question the offensive coaching. Coach Coley's play calling continues to mystify me.

* stretch run plays to the short side
* Rolling the Qb to the short side.
* Refusing to use the middle of the field. Ive never seen an offense where the tight end has as many catches outside the hashmarks.

Moreover, the personnel packages are quizzical.
* Duke is getting WAY overused at this point. Coley is destroying him. He gets every meaningful rep early. He ends up having less in the tank late. Need to use other backs earlier and more.
* 4th and Short and we run Duke in a one back set. ******* ah!!! C'mon. This is Miami. Use your ******* roster. Where is Mo Hagens? Where is Walter Tucker? Where is Mo Hagens AND Walter Tucker on 4th and short??

We're talented enough to win the coastal. If we can get Rayshawn Scott and/or Phillip Dorsett back we might be able to keep it closer against FSU on a neutral field.

AJ is a Cane. His number got called and he did the best he could. Its not his fault that there isn't anyone better. But he is still a cane.

The thing I take away is the we have the platform for greatness. No NCAA cloud and Golden has shown that not only can he recruit, but that he can also develop. We hung in there with FSU and with a few breaks the game could have been a little closer. Give Golden another year or two of recruiting without the NCAA and another year or two of getting players into U Tough and no one will be able to stop us.

Pros:

Duke is a warrior, unreal RB. Unfortunate injury, didn't look good

Morris was unreal in the 1st half

I thought the Defensive gameplan was good for the most part. Still dont disguise blitzes well. We are still short of horses.

I think our CBs are really good. Gunter, Crawford, Howard

Cons:

S.Coley played poorly. He needs to locate the ball in the air. That deep ball in the 1st half is one FSU WRs have feasted on this year. Even the bad throw by Morris he never located the ball. That drop in the 2nd half killed bc Duke got hurt 2 plays later.

Walford was horrible all night.

Don't love our route schemes. WRs rarely get separation

Safety play was awful. Highsmith is not Miami caliber. Bush just isn't right, bad angles.

Overall:

We are getting there. Still short some talent but we will get there. Keep recruiting, need more difference makers on each side of the ball

We are improving but still need major improvements on defense. I really like what we have at CB but we are severely lacking in talent at LB, DT, and S. McCord and Quan need to get bigger/stronger fast.

Here are my thoughts

1. We played them basically even in the first half (just like last year)

2. We played a horrible second half and they ran away with it (just like last year, though it was closer at home)

3. I'm still not that impressed with FSU. Yes, they beat us by 27, and you can call me a sore loser, but we missed a FG, we got stuffed on a fourth down after Coley dropped a pass that would have given us first and goal. Morris missed a sure TD to Coley when it was 28-14. This game should have been a lot closer than the final score.

4. For those crying and whining on the gameday in game thread, STFU. If you don't realize we're still 1-2 years away, go the **** away and root for another team and then jump back on the bandwagon in 2 years. We have guys playing now that have no business playing D-I football, but they're still playing out of necessity because we're not there yet.

5. Morris. What can you say. Very good first half, very bad second half. The INT to Coley was dog****. Sure TD if he throws it 3-4 seconds earlier. I was watching the game with a high school OC and he thinks Walford ran the wrong route on the 2nd INT, and that's why Morris threw it the way he did, and Morris reacted the way he did, yelling at Walford on the sideline. He thought Walford was supposed to round it off a little more. Who knows. Morris had a horrible second half regardless.

6. Duke was finally having a good game against a top team, and then this. Hopefully it's just an ankle sprain and he comes back this year. It looked bad.

7. Coley the player did not have a good game. Can everyone now STFU up with the Sammy Watkins comparisons? Maybe he will be in 2 years, not today, not this year.

8. So, I guess Rashawn Scott is "back" but not "back" enough to play?

9. Perryman, and I said this during the week, is not having a good year. He's racking up tackles, but he aside from the UF game where he balled out, he's not making an impact. And don't post that great hit against Wake, it was after a 15 yard gain, big ******* deal. If he's an elite LB he needs to make his presence known. He is not.

10. I'm not commenting on Highsmith because I just don't want to be mean, and I like his Dad.

11. Quan is going to be a stud, but he got juked twice on what should have been drive ending sacks that led to first downs and eventually FSU TDs. Frustrating, but the raw talent is there.

12. I did love the enthusiasm from the team, but that can only take you so far. We're getting back, but we're not there yet. We don't have the horses. FSU is 2-3 years ahead of us. We knew this, but a lot of us wouldn't admit it.

13. Coley the OC is frustrating sometimes with slow developing runs, and refusing to move Morris on 3rd and short by giving him a run/pass option. Why can't we run a successful screen? The playcall on 4th and 2 was atrocious. FSU knew where it was going.

14. For all those whining that Coach D is too vanilla, well he blitzed a lot tonight, and they got burned. He sat back, and they got burned, so STFU, it's the players not being as good, not the scheme.

15. Goudis sucks. Plain and simple. Can O'Donnell kick FG? I have no confidence in Goudis unless it's within 30 yards. Pathetic.

16. I honestly don't think FSU is amazing. They're better, deeper and more talented than us, but this is not an unbeatable team. If we have Duke back, and we play better, we can beat this team in Charlotte (if we get there).

17. Last point, and this is the big one. Golden's biggest coaching job was not this week. It was not getting them ready to play for FSU. It was not getting them fired up for this game. His biggest job is getting them ready to play against VT. They absolutely cannot lay an egg against VT. They absolutely cannot have an emotional hangover against VT. They have to forget this game, and know if they come to play the rest of the season, they'll play FSU again. VT is bad, we need to come out and play well next week.

Game Thoughts
• We got out schemed on defense…I dunno how many times they got to the edge with a numbers advantage for big plays;
• Our CB’s have to get stronger and disengage blocks…no way Kenny ******* shaw should be riding our CB’s like that;
• Morris is what he is at this point…no more he just had a bad game he’s just not the QB we though going into the season;
• I hope Duke is okay we played hard out there;
• Hurns played like a senior;
• Highsmith missed on too many plays time to give carter some snaps after VT;
• And can we please recruit a kicker…Goudis doesn’t have it and should be cut;
• The team needs to forget this loss quickly and come out hungry against VT…the season’s all about winning the coastal at this point;

We need better personnel on defense at DT first and foremost and fill out the rest. When you put awful talent and depth with a awful D scheme you get our defenses. And before anyone trips and say its just players.....Texas has gotten top 5 classes every year and they were stout under Muschamp. He leaves and BYU runs for 550 yards on them. They fire the DC and they shut down OU. Its talent but not talent alone is our problem.
