So 3 of the 4 batted passes were Heaps....? ****

If you believe he was at a closed scrimmage.

You have a point

How closed is it when you have to go to the 2nd floor of the flipse building / ponce parking garage everyday ....... **** would I lie for

If he was watching from the Ponce garage, he would have had a great view of the scrimmage since they played on the natural grass portion of Greentree, which is right behind the garage (as opposed to the artificial turf portion, which is further away and harder to see).

The Hurricanes had seven pass deflections (four at the line of scrimmage)

Wonder how many came against Heaps.. Have heard he's around 5'10-11..
That's actually my biggest concern with Heaps -- he is a little short to be a D-1 QB, although it's certainly not unprecedented. If he does start, I hope gives him a lot of snaps from the shotgun. That will help mitigate the height issue to some extent.

When I was watching practices as a student a few years ago, I remember UM having some personnel patrol the garage (I was asked to leave a few times).

They practiced on the bottom left field I had a perfect view from my car they still do have security patrol the area and send people out that's why I said I watched about 15-20 minutes

Typical ultra secret bs we're used to over the last decade. When you're good, you let the media and fans in. When you're not, this is what you get.

Smh this isn't Spring scrimmages, they're actually running what they will in the season. Do you really believe they want media to be filming that?

There are some absolute beasts in that freshman class. Gayot and Gray look like seniors.

@smillerdegnan: #UM #Canes scrimmage is in the books. Dallas Crawford = beast. He took a 50-yard pick to the house to end scrimmage, per UM

Wow

Wouldn't want to be stood up by Dallas and then demolished by Denzel. Double D on defense, watch for it they coming.

Jamal, Dallas and Denzel are to be known as the "Law Firm" from this point on. JDD = Juris Doctorate Degree.

Didn't mean for it to seem like I was questioning you. I was just pointing out that the security can be a pain in the *** lol

I'm gonna hang myself with my tampon string! The numbers are too big, and the mesh is too see-through.

The danger of information control is that we have no idea if the defense made plays against Kaaya and Heaps or against Rozier or Hoza or Welch. Take these dummied up reports with a boulder of salt.

Agreed. One thing that does not escape my mind is the fact that Duke broke a 50+ yard TD run. Yes, I know it is Duke and he is special; however, a good Defense only allows a couple of big plays the entire summer. Several years ago, I spoke to a former coach who was here during our elite years in regards to our Defense and he told me Miami's old Defense would rarely give up big plays during practices and scrimmages. They were too good and fast. This would be a good indication as to whether or not the Defense is good.

when Miami's defense was elite, the offense could literally not get plays off. Those goons lived in everyones backfield including ours

What's the advantage of letting fans/media in?

Any chance you get, you allow both in to build relationships with the public and start building hype for the upcoming season. We used to do this more when we were playing lights out, then it was locked down. I doubt any of the super secret practices have resulted in a win and all the paranoia about the guy in the bushes recording things is silly.

If FSU has always done this under Jimbo, obviously that's been his way all along. Bowden let people see them all the time and basically had the idea of here we are, try and stop us.

More access today through pictures or internet, that's a given. As fans, yes Al has been a bit more accessible compared to Shannon, but not the guys before that. I'm talking about ground level, not as technology has increased, we're using it more.

Now you're just making stuff up. I was in Tallahassee during Bowden's best years and very close to the athletic program. He opened up only a few practices to the outside world. The rest were under lock and key. He posted security guards around the entire practice field and had the school erect tarped fences to minimize exposure.

Two attorneys my mother's husband worked with (one was his partner, the other his mentor) used to take a week off yearly to head up there for a week to watch the goings on, so they couldn't have been too buttoned up. While both huge fans of the Noles, I don't believe either was a big time booster, so perhaps things changed. This would've been mid 80's to who at least '93 when I left the area (off to college, start life, etc) and one has since passed while the other we only talk once or twice a year around our matchup or the bowl games. Both great guys and I used to know as much about their team before the season as us until the internet came rolling around.

Do you remember if they went during spring or fall camp?
Most programs are more open during spring including UM.
I remember fall being closed specially after the first week.
