First AP Poll released

Go loook at who they played at the end of the season .. OLD DOMINION LOL... UVA, NCSTATE... They lost to Duke @HOME.. Ok, so they beat Cincy in a bowl.. WOW color me impressed. GTFOH with " they showed more talent and coaching towards the end". Typical of our fans.
But they beat 6 unranked teams to finish 7-6 where as we lost to 3 top 25 teams (including the National Champs) and 1 unranked team to finish 9-4...they must be better this year right? :indecisiveness:. I dont think it has anything to do with our lack of showing promise at the end of the season. I think its the fact that the media thinks we're ****ed at the QB position and they assume our defense is going to be as shi*ty as it has been.

Thank you.

My theory about the media and Miami is that they hold our teams against the highest of standards and if they don't think we meet those standards they severely underrate us compared to other teams like UNC who they think are above their lowered standards.
So basically Miami not up to standards equals bad..
UNC up or better than their standards equals good. Even though Miami lower standards is better than UNC above standards.

I mean honestly, every analyst I have watched so far this year has mentioned the QB position and defense, so until we prove them wrong then they arent going to have a lot of confidence in us. I dont really give a **** about what they think about other teams, we just have to win...and preferably win decisively like we use to. We went 7-0 last year and regardless of what they thought, we were ranked in the top 10 because we were undefeated. Even then both analysts and fans thought we didnt deserve it. They were just waiting for that 'I told you" moment and they got it...we just need to start ******* people up again lol.

There should be no rankings until after week 4. This way you aren't immediately rewarded (or punished) for playing cupcakes, you have gotten into some conference play and you generally would have a month's body of work to assess and analyze.

It wouldn't solve all problems but I I think it would be an improvement over the current system that unfairly anchors end of the year outcomes before a single snap has occurred.

While I agree with your assessment of the early polls, no one can really stop the AP from releasing a poll. Luckily, the poll that matters isn't released until the end of October.

The Selection Committee members will meet weekly, in person, on Mondays and Tuesdays to produce rankings. The committee will issue its first rankings Tuesday, October 28, after the completion of the ninth week of the regular season. The committee’s rankings will be announced on ESPN each Tuesday evening beginning October 28 and continuing for the next five weeks.

Now hopefully the selection committee will not use polls that have already been released as their guidance.
